Love and Death
A poem about two teenagers with good futures, who kill themselves, together....

I didn’t want to run,
I wanted to spend our last moments together,
‘Cause I knew you were done.
We used to act so in love,
Like nothing was wrong,
Our parents had it planned,
Like a sweet, soft love song.
But me and you,
We knew the truth,
One day they’d find us together,
After we’ve jumped off the roof.
We couldn’t decide,
I said ‘Ladies first,’
I didn’t wanna be around when you died,
You said ‘My pain’s worst,’
I finally said,
‘Okay, you win’,
I decided what I wanted,
I wanted them to find me next to him.
He took a breath,
He brought the knife to his heart,
I made myself look,
Though watching him die tore me apart.
But my pain didn’t last,
At least, not that long,
I was done pretending,
That I was still strong.
I wrote a quick note,
A poem, it was my last,
It made me forget,
About my past.
I placed it in his pocket,
And rested against him,
I shoved the knife in my heart,
Everything turned dim.
Later on,
Our parents found it,
In the pocket of his favorite shirt,
And they were confounded.
‘Read the note,’
My mother said it,
With a heavy heart and tears,
His father read it.
‘I'm sorry for both of us,
We were going soon, we knew,
We couldn’t deal,
Now we’re through.
Please try to hold it together,
Don’t mourn or cry,
I have one last promise for you,
I’ll love you till I die.’
