Louise Hay: You Can Heal Your Life
What made Louise Hay to invent "You Can Heal Your Life"?
Hay was born on 8th Oct in 1926 to a poor family of Los Angeles. Her mother was married to a violent step father, where she was raped at the age of 5 by a neighbor. When she became 15 she was dropped out of high school due to pregnancy. At the age of 16 she gave birth to a girl child which was given for adoption. Later on she left the city and went to Chicago where she worked as an unskilled menial worker. In 1950 she shifted to New York where she started working from a different name for the career in fashion model. She successfully worked for Oleg Cassini, Bill Blass and Pauline Trigere. After 4 years she was married to an English businessman Andrew Hay but she was completely broken-down when her husband left her after 14 years of marriage for another girl.
In the broken heart condition she discovered a Church of Religious Science on the 48th street of New York, which taught her to live against all odds with the positive power of thoughts. Hay gradually observed and practiced the metaphysical practices of people like Florence Scovel Shinn and Ernest Holmes. The practice of Florence Scovel Shinn included the positive thinking to change the circumstances of the person where as from Ernest Holmes she learnt the ways for healing of the body with the help of positive thinking.
By the age of 47 she became a practitioner of Religious Science. She motivated various people for the positive attitude towards the life. She became popular and took various workshops for motivation of people. She learnt the methods of Transcendental Meditation from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi from his university situated in Fairfield, Iowa.
At the age of 51-52 she discovered that she had a cervical cancer due to some of the previous activities done in her childhood. Hay being a firm believer on Religious Science Practices, refused to take the medication for the treatment of cancer. She claimed to heal her body by her positive thoughts and finally with her unconditional efforts she proved it to the world. The medical practitioners had to concede the true story of Hay for healing the body by thoughts.
In the year 1976 Hay wrote a booklet, which was named as "Heal Your Body". The booklet contained various methods of body ailments and their causes. Later on after her own experience with the cancer she extended the book and gave it the name "You Can Heal Your Life" which later on became the best seller book of New York Times. Thus Hay covered a journey trail blazingly, making a way towards positive attitude for all of us.
