Lou Diamond Phillips’ Assault Charge
Actor Lou Diamond Phillips was charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery on Thursday.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred in August when Phillips was arrested following a fight with live-in girlfriend Yvonne Boismier. An argument broke out between the two in the early hours of August 11. The fight allegedly became physical and according o a statement released by Los Angeles attorney Rocky Delgadillo Phillips’ girlfriend was "pushed and dragged across the house, resulting in scrapes to both knees."
Boismier reportedly locked herself in the bathroom of their Northridge, California home and called police.
Police arrived on the scene at approximately 2 a.m. and arrested Phillips on suspicion of cohabitant abuse. Bail was originally set at $50,000, but Phillips released on his own recognizance after about 10 hours. Last month Phillips’ attorney said that he did not expect charges to be brought against the actor. If he is convicted he could face a $2,000 fine and a maximum of one year in jail. He is set to appear in court on October 18 for an arraignment.
Phillips’ was previously married to Julie Cypher from 1986-1990 before she entered into a long-term relationship with singer Melissa Etheridge. Phillips’ was married to make-up artist Kelly Preston (no, not the Mrs. John Travolta) for 10 years before filing for divorce in 2005. Phillips’ and Preston (who changed her name to Phillips) have three daughters together: twins Grace and Isabella, 8, and Lili, 6. He met Boismier, also a make-up artist, on the set of the 2006 sci-fi movie Bloodlines. Recently, Phillips has ad guest appearances on shows such as 24 and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
