Lost of Friend, Find New Love

Story of a girl who comes home to find her best friend a complete new person, then having no one she meets a boy who she falls in love with.
Walking up the stairs to a familiar white house with dark blue trim, I knocked on the front green door. It was a nice summer day, just a few weeks before school started again. Trees leaves still green with life, flowers blooming for the last time, cars driving by with there windows open, music blasting from the radio. A light breeze brushed the hair into my face. Just as I pushed the hair out of my face the door swung open, standing there was Hallie, Alex's little sister. She was wearing a nice yellow dress, with pink flowers on it. Her light brown hair was styled in neat french braids.

"Alyson!" Hallie screamed, hugging me with all her might. I hadn't see Hallie or Alex all summer. I was down in Florida all summer, living with my dad. It was so nice to get to see her again.
"Hi, how was your summer, I missed you." I said, hugging her back. Holding her little orange bear, Teddy, she backed away, still grinning.
"Well," She said, while jumping up and down. "It was good. I had my 7th birthday, so I am 7th now." She said, showing me with her fingers how old she was.

"Wow! Your almost as old as me," I said, jokingly. "Happy birthday. I was just wondering if Alex was home, I wanted to say hi. I haven't seen him in so long."
Hallie stopped jumping and hid her face with her bear. "He's not home." She said, almost a whisper. She looked sad for some reason, afraid almost.
"Oh, OK. Well do you know where I can find him?" I asked, a weird feeling in my gut.

"I'm not sure, I'll be right back." She said, running into the kitchen. Standing there I turned around, two guys were walking down the street. Hallie came running around the corner and back to the front door.
"Mommy said he is at the park, with Joe." She said, looking down at her hands.
"Who's Joe? Is something wrong?" I asked. Hallie had been acting weird ever since she asked about Alex. Something was wrong she could feel it, it's just that no one was telling her.

"Joe is, he's Alex's, friend." Hallie said, pausing before she said 'friend". "I need to go now." I decided not to push her for information.
"OK, well bye. It was nice seeing you again Hallie." I said confusingly. Just as I was turning around, Hallie grabbed my arm.
"He has been acting different ever since you left. Be careful." Letting go of my arm she gave me one last hug, ran inside slamming the door behind her. Starring at the door, I turned around and ran a hand though my long hair. What did she mean by, be careful. He was still the same Alex, right?

Walking down the steps I headed for the park. Now thinking about it, Alex was acting weird. He never texted her back when I texted him. He also never called me back when I said I was coming home on Friday. Thinking about it, I actually hadn't talked to Alex for almost the whole summer.
Zipping up my red sweatshirt, I tried to text him again, then calling, no answer. Almost at the park, a black Toyota sped up and stopped in front of her. Gasping she took a step back. The window opened and sitting in the drivers seat was, Dylan Border.

"Ahh, Alyson. How was your summer, I missed you babe." He said, checking her out.
"Dylan, just the moron I was hoping not to see." I said, giving him a half smile. "I am afraid I don't have time for you. I'm going to meet Alex, someone a lot more interesting then you." Getting out of his car, he casually walked over to me. Dylan had been a pain in my ass ever since 3 grade. He colored all over my favorite book, in started to cry, I was so angry. Then Alex came and punched him in the face, then made Dylan apologize. That next Christmas Alex bought me a new copy of my book Dylan colored on. My hero.

"Alyson. Alyson. Alyson." He said, shaking his head. Putting an arm around my shoulder, "Why would you want to hang with that jerk?"
"What do you mean, he didn't make you cry did he?" I said, shaking his arm off, giving him a half smile.

"No, but he hasn't been himself." He said, suddenly sounding serious. Looking me straight in the eyes, he put a hand on my shoulder. "You would probably be better off hanging with me, than him."
"Sorry, but I don't hang out with jerks." I said, starting to walk away.
"Then you might need to make new friends sweetheart." He yelled after me.
