Lost In My Reflection

Losing what I never found...
Under the cover of the night sky
I empty out my amber glass
Burn my lips
Inhale
Push the fire deeper into me
Right down to the pit of my fear

A speck of red against the dark
A dancing liquid in the glass
I look upon my loneliness
I call upon my pain
We share a drink or two
From a bottle of despair

Exhale
My head has been trapped in exile
I feel it surface again
And I wash it down with another swallow
I am lost in my disarray
As it tightens the wires that run through me

Inhale
I feel it burn - my breath, my hope
The embers slowly blow away in the wind.
I make my apologies to no one in particular
And I fade away...
Far, far away

Exhale
