Lost Hearts - Ch. 9

Chapter 9
Jade's POV
The instant I walked into my room, my cell phone rang. The number was unknown, but I picked it up anyway.
"Hi, Jade's speaking. Who's this?"
"Jade...uhhh...it's me." Just by hearing his voice I felt happy.
"Are you ok? I haven't caused you any trouble have I? Damien, I'm s-.."
"Jade! I should be asking you that. Don't worry though, I'll take care of everything. I won't just leave you. You have to wait for me, ok?"
"O-Ok..." I whispered faintly.
"Promise me. Promise you'll wait for me no matter what, unless...unless you fall in love with someone else...I'll let you go then."
"What do you mean fall in love with someone else? It's not like you're going to take forever, right?"
I heard him sigh and felt bad, "No, I mean of course I'll wait for you. I promise that I'll wait for you even if it'll take forever, and there's no way I'd fall for someone else," I quickly said.
"So...Does that mean you love me?"
"Huh?!"
"If you love me, why don't you say so?" his tone was a little teasing now.
"Do I have to say it for you to know? Doesn't it already show that I do??"
"I'm not too sure. Come on it is not that hard to admit it with three simple words."
"Hey! They're not just three SIMPLE words!!"
Silence. He didn't say anything for a whole 24 seconds. I gave up. "Fine...I - I.."
"I love you..." I finally said.
He laughed lightly. "I love you too...Wait for me ok? I'll hang up for now."
Before I could say anything else, he'd already hung up. He must really have trouble because of his mum. I put away my cell phone and walked out of the house.
Damien's POV
It was 3 : 35 AM, and I couldn't sleep. Instead I walked out of my room and as I passed my mum's room I heard her talking to someone. I walked closer and heard her talk to one of the butlers.
"I want you to find that girl and bring her here. Tell her that I'd pay her as much as she wants as long as she leaves Damien. She can't look at him or ask about him. Understood?"
"Yes miss."
"If she doesn't accept, even that then I'll have to get rid of her for good," my mother's words were like stabs in my heart. If she ever does that then she's no longer considered as my mother.
I hid in one of the empty rooms as I heard the door open. The butler came out and walked towards a car outside. I ran to another car. I waited until he was out of sight, then drove to Jade's house using a different way.
All the way I was so angry since I couldn't even call her.
Jade's POV
I sat outside on the doorsteps feeling tired, but somehow I couldn't sleep. After 7 min or so a car stopped right in front of me. I got up and looked around anxiously. A man that was wearing a suit came out. He had black hair and...I couldn't make out the color of his eyes.
He walked over to me and caught my arm. "Are you miss Jade?"
I struggled to free my arm from his grip but that didn't help. He was just too strong. "Uhhh...yea. Do you need something?"
"There's a matter I need to discuss with you," his cold eyes stared right into mine. They were a dark blue. His grip on my arm tightened and I winced.
"I'm listening," I refused to give up. I had to face my problems. I'm sure Damien's mother is not going to leave me alone just yet.
"We'll pay you as much as you want as long as you leave young master, Damien for good," he said.
My eyes widened and I was speechless. Now this is too extreme. Does she think I like Damien because of his money? "There is no way I'd accept your money! You can't make me leave him no matter what."
Suddenly in a flash he pulled me towards him. "If you want to live, stay away from him."
