Losing Fat - What They Don’t Want You To Know

Fat loss is a huge money making industry. Find out the truth behind getting in shape and losing body fat - without spending a dime.
Fitness and fat loss is a billion dollar industry, so it’s quite obvious that it’s more about the money than customer satisfaction. The fact of the mater is there are core principles to losing fat - some programs implement them, others don’t.

Do not get caught up in the infomercials, the diet pills and the fake promises. You will just end up right back where you are - angry and frustrated.

So what is it that the fitness industry does not want you to know… It’s simple: you can get long lasting results without using their gimmick products. Sounds pretty obvious I know. But how many of you have been tricked into buying that ab crunching gadget or super weight loss pill?

Don’t worry, we’ve all been deceived at some point; nevertheless, there are 3 things you need to know about in order to start losing fat and looking fantastic.

1. Lose fat with proper nutrition

This is extremely important. I cannot emphasize this enough. People will go to the gym for days on end but they will still see no results. They will not get bigger and they will not lose that gut. How come? Because their nutrition is not where it should be. Yes, it’s that important.

I have busted through many plateaus gaining strength and also losing body fat, not by changing my workout routine, but changing my nutrition macros. For example, if I am stuck at a certain weight on the bench press I will up my protein intake and perhaps my fat as well. If I can’t seem to shed a pound I will lower my carbohydrates and use high and low days to help me get over it.

Nutrition is the cornerstone to great success; however, it is just one piece of the equation. In order to maximize your results you will want to implement cardiovascular activity and weight training.

2. Lose fat via weight training and cardio

Both are equally important. Cardio to help you burn extra calories, and weight training to help you gain and maintain lean mass in turn helping you burn fat as well.

Hours and hours of exercise is not necessary either. I am currently cutting for the summer and today I spent about 35 minutes weight training and 35 minutes doing cardio.

I currently do a 5 day split doing one muscle group a day from Monday to Friday. This allows each muscle group to rest for 7 days and also allows my full body to recover on Saturday and Sunday. I will do cardio post workout most days using the bike or elliptical – I’m not a fan of running unless I am doing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).

The last piece of success is a clearly defined goal.

3. Written goals for success

Written goals are very important, especially when trying to lose fat. Right now I have a piece of paper in front of me taped to my desk that says by XXX date I will be XXX pounds. This is a goal I set for myself and it really helps keep me motivated.

Without goals, saying things like "I just want to lose a few pounds", you will never succeed. You must have a clear cut goal – so take the time right now and write down your short and long term goals.

This is a 3 prong approach for losing fat. In order to have great success you need to apply all 3 principles: nutrition, fitness training, and a clear cut goal.
