Living a Healthy Way of Life

Even though we all dread the thought, we all must think about our bodies at some point in our lifetime. I know for many years I either pushed it aside or felt uncomfortable thinking about it. It isn't always an easy thing.
As we grow older, we come across some health conditions that make us realize how we had taken our bodies’ welfare for granted for the past few years. Frankly speaking, many of us are guilty of such - eating and doing what we want without thinking if these can cause severe damage to our lives later on.

It’s funny how we are able to keep our homes clean and free from any kind of danger we can think of, yet treat our bodies as if it’s not worth any attention - neglected and ignored.

People often realize this on the latter years of their life. There are many factors responsible for bringing it up actually. Some say old age begets wisdom, and others dwell on environmental influence.

Either you realize it yourself that things are no longer right or people around you just keeps on gaining weight, you owe it to your body that it deserves great pampering and utmost care.

The truth of the matter is, when we no longer feel comfortable after eating the same amount and types of food we used to have when we were younger, that’s when it starts to dawn on us.

Depriving yourself of a healthy lifestyle can get back at you big time, just like karma. Your physical appearance can speak for it (limp hair, wrinkled skin), you'll get easily irritated and would lack focus due to inadequate sleep.

Feeling better on the inside is definitely the key to looking better on the outside. And you can only achieve that by doing a drastic change in your way of life.

Although change is not always as easy as it seems, you need to think that all things are possible if your heart is into it. Married couples will be more motivated if they’re into it together. Nobody said it should make things flawless.

But at least you can expect that neither of you will tempt the other with laziness or unhealthy food, because doing so will forfeit both of your efforts.

You can start this healthy regimen by consulting your family doctor for some physical examinations which will include blood tests and cholesterol check. This is also helpful for some individuals who have special health conditions.

The doctor can suggest an appropriate regimen specifically for you. This is necessary because some health issues may produce severe complications.

After seeking the professional advice, you may now decide on your diet regime. Highly recommended is a diet rich in fiber like fresh apples, broccoli and whole wheat grains. Say no to carbohydrate-rich foods, pork, and preserves.

A daily exercise routine can also help a lot. If walking or running bores you, you can always be creative and find other types of work out that you can enjoy.

While continuing your walking routine, you can advance by enrolling to the nearest gym. For people on their 40’s, weight lifting can be a challenge. It’s not a must, but is nevertheless recommended. Your body will get used to it anyway after some time.

The only thing that matters in living a healthy life is your own great will to make it happen. As long as you are open to change - improve your diet, exercise regularly and consult a doctor more often.

All things are achievable if you take things in stride, one step at a time towards weight loss.
