Live Carefully
This is about a father who raised his daughter alone.

She'd been told to trust no one
So she spends everyday watching her back
Waiting for the man with the loaded gun.
She'd been told not to play with fire
And not to play her music too loud
Be sure to watch out for the nasty liars
They'll ruin your life in a matter of hours.
She's always careful to cover her tracks
Should anyone ever follow her home
Her friends have never had the heart to ask
Why she always insisted on walking alone.
"Beware of big crowds," her father would say,
"Be careful in this world; there's so much you don't know"
So before she went to bed, she'd lay there and pray
"Be careful not to collect too many foes."
The safety was off, and the guns were out
There was always a new crime on the news
No one to hear your complaints, even if you shout
And as she grew up, she got called paranoid.
By careless teenagers who didn't understand,
So she left those places, she couldn't stand the noise
And as she walked home, she took the necklace into her hand
And promised to continue its legacy.
She'd make her daddy proud one way or another
She'd do her best for the mother she'd never met
She'd be a good role model for her new baby brother
She'd be kind to woman who'd replaced her mom.
She'd forgive her father for moving on,
And when she got upset, she'd do her best to stay calm.
