List Building Tips - Utilizing Other People's Email Lists

This article discusses how you can use other people's email lists to grow your own profitable list of subscribers.
If you run any kind of online business you will generally find that your email list is your most valuable asset because you can constantly get in touch with your potential customers. The hard part is actually building a sizable list to begin with, however one of the most effective methods is to utilize other people's email lists.

This is commonplace on the internet because most email subscribers will not just be on one person's list but they will usually be on several other people's lists as well. Therefore it's perfectly reasonable to try and attract these prospects to your own list.

To do that you can try several approaches. The easiest way is simply to contact the list owner and ask them if you can promote your website / company to their list either in the form of an advertisement within an email, or better still a solo ad that will go out to their entire list.

This will cost money but if you send these people directly to your website and offer a real incentive for them to join your list then you can quickly build up a large email list in no time at all. Furthermore these are excellent prospects because they are have already been warmed up by the other list owner within your niche and will be therefore be used to receiving a few promotional messages now and again.

Another approach is to offer to write an article specifically for that person's list of subscribers. This benefits everyone because you get to promote your business either within the article or in the resource box at the end of the article, and the list owner gets some good quality content that they can offer to their list.

This is one of my favorite ways of using other marketers' email lists because you can potentially reach thousands of subscribers completely free of charge. So while paid advertising may run into hundreds or even thousands of dollars depending on the size of the list, a single article which you could write in say 30-60 minutes could reach the same number of people and won't cost you anything at all.

So my overall advice to anyone who is serious about building their email list is to seek out the various list owners within your niche and try and come up with inventive ways to access their lists and legitimately steal some of their subscribers. Paid advertising and article writing are two of the best ways, but if you have a decent sized list of your own you could also try some more imaginative techniques such as arranging joint ventures where you promote each others' lists.
