Liquor Cabinet Design Ideas
Custom-Made: Custom-made cabinets are very common and you do not have to toil hard to earn your drink 'ye old fella'! You just have to glide into a furniture store or stores (the more the merrier, isn't it?) tell them what you want and voila, you have it in front of you. Pay the money and get it home. It is as simple as that! In the shop itself you will find various designs available. Therefore, you only need to choose and pick it up. Saves you a lot of trouble, for sure.
Rustic Style: Another fantastic cabinet plan is based on the rustic style. Add that country side touch. Make it in ebony or authentic hardwood with the help of instructions given with the plans. It is not a herculean task to build this type of a cabinet. Plus, it has a natural finish, which is great.
Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann Style: Yes, this plan and design is dedicated to Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann, a renowned designer of yesteryears. In fact, it is called an Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann style cabinet. With a french polish finish to ebony, mahogany, bone ivory and amboyna burl, this is a fantastic choice. This will give that classy touch to your home bar.
Contemporary: Another design can be to construct it in the shape of a barrel or a wine cylinder. You can call it whatever you want to; contemporary or unique! If not a barrel, you can build it or have it built in a shape of a cart. This is sure to impart that charm to your home bar or even otherwise to the room if you do not have a home bar.
Instructions for Building a Liquor Cabinet
- To start off, pick a plan or design. See which is best suited for your home. The best option would be to go for a tall and lean one.
- Now, fix the shelves into the cabinet, but leave a 1 foot space of room at the very top. These shelving options are going to be easy to fix and adjust, most probably. Keep in mind that you would need 1 or 2 shelves for keeping your tallest bottles, so check out the height accordingly.
- Just as you will need taller shelves for your tallest liquor bottles, you need shelves to fit in the glasses as well. These short shelves are perfect to keep and display your neat shot glasses.
- On the top of the 'would be' cabinet, fix glassware hanging stem racks. Now follow this up by screwing the racks in the top part of it, where you can hang your wine and martini glasses.
- Put any kind of drink bottles you want to in the cabinet, that is all that is left.
- Some design essentials are Red wine (Pinot Noir works well with many foods), white wine, champagne, tonic, club soda and seltzer, sodas for mixing, cranberry or grapefruit juice, beer and vodka. Other than these you can go for Gin, Rum, Tequila, Bourbon Single-malt scotch and after dinner liquor, like Irish cream or coffee liqueur.
