Life Throws Curve Balls Chpt 5
I hope that all of you have seen the video on chpt 4. If not, go back, it’s at the bottom of the page. I’m going to start off from there.
"So, because it is your birthday, I thought it would be a good idea to go to Niagara Falls to have some fun." Peter said to Josh.
"Um, well I don’t know, will we all fit?" Josh asked.
"I can’t come tonight; I have to go see Tails." Crystal stated.
"Aw, your ganna miss his birthday!" I sadly said.
"It’s ok, you’re there for him." Crystal smiled
Later that night later we were on our way to Niagara Falls. April and I spent the trip in the back seat listening to Peter’s CD’s the entire way. Ok, so his sense of music was a lot different then mine, I mean like I was use to AFI and MCR all of a sudden its all now it was pitbull, snoop and some other people. Unfortunately it was beginning to grow on me, which was a change. I remember hanging around my friends Samantha and Ashleigh. We would dress in black, go to rock concerts and like that boys kissing other boys were "awesome" but, thank god I grew out of that stage before it got over done. But then April came along and shortly enough I began to grow out from that stage.
"city talk Nelly listen Nelly talk city listen when I fuck fly bitches when I walk pay attention see the ice on the wrist niggas starin at the glist honeys looking no they wish come on boo gimme kiss c'mon" April sang along with the song ‘Ride with me’ by Nelly. Eventually we came across a song that I knew of because of peter,
"This is why I’m hot! I’m hot cuz I'm fly, you aint cuz u not" I sang as I grabbed a bottle from Peters floor. We continued this for the rest of the trip singing to the music as well as jerking the car to the beat of the song. It was amazing; we did about 145 m/h down the highway and managed to make it to Niagara Falls within a half hour instead of the full hour.
When we arrived in the tourist section of Niagara Falls where there were tunes of haunted houses and fun houses and an arcade where kids can play. Right down the strip of attractions there was the falls. It took about twenty minutes for us to find a parking though.
"It’s flipping COLD here!" April gasped.
"Well that is why we brought your winter jackets for both of you." Josh explained.
"I was wondering where it had gone." I laughed to josh. I stared josh in his eyes noticing the tint of blue to his eye colour suddenly. Caught in a daze in his eyes, Peter nudged me,
"So what should we do?" He said looking at me
"I don’t know, ask your girlfriend" I laughed.
"Oh I tired that, she said to ask you" He answered.
"Why not ask the birthday boy?" Josh laughed.
"Oh right! So where do you want to go?" Peter smiled
"Well I think we should go down to the falls" Josh replied.
We all walked down the strip of haunted sounds coming from the fun houses and listening to the screams from people inside. Peter and April slowly began to fall behind josh and I, just enough so that they were behind us.
"So, josh why are you not holding her hand?" Peter questioned.
"I don’t know...stop bugging me." Josh laughed.
As I stood there trying not to blush, I felt josh’s hand slip slowly into mine. His hand was cold, just like the air. I looked up at him and smiled. He looked back at me blushing. It then began to rain as we slowly reached the falls. I walked over to the wall slowly as I unhooked my hand from josh’s. I watched as the water came over the edge of the falls. It was beautiful. I thought to myself how perfect the day had gone. My first kiss with josh, spending his birthday with him, holding hands down the street with him. These things don’t happen to me, they never have. With my old boyfriend, the most we did was go out for dinner and coffee.
These types of things happened to girls who were far more skinnier then myself and far more outgoing then I was. I mean what would he want with me? A girl who has friends, but never parties, doesn’t drink very often and doesn’t really fit into his crowed of friends. As I pondered on these thoughts to myself I felt strong arms wrap around me and a head resting on my shoulder. I hard a quiet whisper in my ear,
"You know, even with your hair drenched in water from the rain, and your make up running down your face, you’re still the most beautiful girl I know." Josh whispered so lightly into my ear
"Thank you" I smiled and whispered back as he held me tighter.
We stood in the rain for about five more minutes until peter wanted to get going back to Mississauga. We walked back hand in hand towards the car.
"Do you mind if I sit in the front with peter?" April asked josh.
"No, not at all go right ahead." Josh insisted
The car ride home was very quiet. April had fallen asleep in the front seat while I was slowly drifting off into dream land myself. I rested my head along the window, using it as a pillow for my head.
"Steph, you can rest your head on my leg if you want to." Josh whispered.
I looked over at him and smiled. No words needed to be spoken as I set my head onto his lap. I looked up at josh feeling his eyes on me. As I turned to look into his eyes, he placed his hand on my face. He brushed his thumb along side my cheek and bent down. His lips brushed mine lightly. It felt like I was in heaven on earth. Our lips parted how I wished we could stay that way for forever. I looked at his lust filled eyes and smiled. Slowly I moved my head to the side and drifted off into sleep.
The next evening Peter had picked me up and we headed to Aprils house.
"So, are you and josh like dating?" Peter asked,
"No, I wish though, did he say anything to you?"
"Nope! Why not just ask him out? What do you have to lose; he seems to like you it looks like."
I sat and pondered in the car as we pulled up to April’s house. We got out of the car and walked up the stairs and opened the door.
"Oh no! Not you again..." April’s father Bill laughed as we walked through the door. I herd Peter’s phone ring just as I had sat down beside her father on the couch.
"So Bill, you miss me?" I laughed looking at April’s father.
"Yes, I always do" He chuckled. We sat on the couch and watched ‘wheel of fortune’.
"Yeah, sure man no problem. I’ll see you in a minute." I herd Peter talking into his cell phone.
Peter came from out of the kitchen and walked right up to the front door.
"Ill be back in two minutes." Peter yelled. He opened the front door and walked out.
"Ugh, he pisses me off some times; he doesn’t even bother to tell e where he is going!" I herd April bitching from across the room.
At times I think she just blows things out of proportion, I’m sure where he was going was not that important. For about five minutes I listened to April go on and on about how he never tells her anything. Right then I made a promise to myself that I would never be like with anyone I dated. Shortly after having her drill all her complaints into my head, I herd peters car pull up into the drive way. I glanced at the window and noticed someone else coming out of the car. My heart skipped a beat when I saw who it was. I slowly began to fix my hair and fix my clothes. I whipped under my eyes to make sure that my eyeliner was not running down my face. Slowly the front door began to open. As I watched Peter enter the room my heart began to beat so fast I thought it was going to beat right out of my chest. I herd my name being called from a familiar voice,
"Hey steph, how are you doing?" Josh said with excitement in his voice.
"Oh, I’m better now..." I quietly spoke.
"What?" he asked
"Oh, I said I was doing ok, and yourself?" I smiled, laughing inside
"I’m doing ok."
We hung out upstairs in April’s room for quiet sometime. April and Peter snuggled on her single bed, while josh and I sat on the floor in front of each other talking about anything and everything. Josh reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone. I watched him as hid his phone screen from my face and texted away. I thought to myself, that he was being a little rude and then began to think that maybe I was a bit boring to him. I suddenly felt my butt vibrate from my phone. It startled me sending me jumping from the feeling.
‘Hey steph, I wanted to let you know that you are looking very pretty today’ It was a text message from Josh. I pressed reply on my phone laughing at how cute he was being.
‘Aw, thank you! I think you are looking very cute yourself too!’ I cleverly texted back.
"Are you texting each other!" I herd peter blurt out of no where.
"Maybe" josh chuckled
"Wow, you’re a loser!" Peter laughed.
"Oh shut up!" I laughed
"Ok, guys, I have an idea where to go. So race you to the car! Last one there has to buy me food!" Peter yelled as he began to get up and race to the car. Unfortunately for Peter, April was he last one to get to the car; and he knows she won’t buy him anything. I waited by the front door for her because she just HAD to fix herself before going out into the dark where no one is going to see her face clearly anyways. We hopped into his car and drove down lakeshore with the loud music and the base booming in the night.
We arrived at a park that had a splash pad where kids could run though the water during the day and also a play structure shaped like a ship. Myself being a kid at heart, I ran straight for the play structure. I ran up the wooden stairs and onto the landing. I crossed the bridge along there and slid down the slide. Josh then began to follow me as I walked through the sand to do it all over again. I noticed Peter and April walking towards a path way just down a little hill and a behind some short pine trees. Josh looked at me and took hold of my hand and pulled me towards the walk way.
"So, how was your day?" He asked as he began to stand behind me and wrap his arms around my shoulders.
"It was very relaxing. Slept for pretty much the day, then got up and it was time to get ready to go out to April’s house. Pretty much my day! How about yours?"
"Mine was pretty good too." He whispered
We walked in silence, but not that awkward silence, it was the type that jus fit the moment. While we continued to walk the path by the water, it started to turn back into the park area again. I kept telling myself to ask him out, but each time I tried, I chickened out. Finally something took over me.
"Josh, can I ask you something?" I whispered.
"Yeah, sure what is it?"
"Would you um...well...um, do you want to go out? I mean be my boyfriend?" I asked. What was I thinking I mean he probably wasn’t even interested in me?
"I would love to. I was actually just going to ask you but you beat me to it." He laughed. He then turned me around and smiled. He leaned in closely and placed his lips onto mine. ‘Finally’ I thought to myself.
