Life Throws Curve Balls Chpt 2

chapter 2
After receiving April’s, text message, I decided that it would probably be best for her to show up at my house so I can get ready. After letting her know the change of plans class was finally over. So as my daily routine, I strolled down the crowded hallways to my locker to drop my bag off. I guess there is a good thing when it comes to boring classes; you do all your other homework in it.

After a long ten minute bus ride, I managed to safely make it home. I walked up my drive way and down the path that led to three cement stairs. Oh how those stairs looked like so much effort. It had been a long day and those stairs looked like they could really do some damage in the end. I finally stepped up each stair with agony and tiredness. Suddenly my foot had slipped up from under me sending me falling face first to the top stair. It’s a good thing that I had a quick reflex otherwise I could have done some damage. I slowly got up and searched for my keys that were buried in my purse. I couldn’t be more frustrated with myself for not organizing my purse so I could quickly grab them. Finally after what felt like an hour which was really only a few short seconds, I grabbed my key and opened the door. The house was quiet, which was normal because my mother was usually out picking up my brother and sister from school.

I strolled down the hall and down to the basement where my room was. It was dark in my room; there was no window, just lights. My parents had originally built my room as a computer room but that changed when my sister was born. My older sister moved to the basement and I got her old room leaving my younger sister my old room. Shortly after, my older sister moved out so I gladly took over her room and again the chain reaction, only this time when my older sister eventually moved home she got the tiniest room in the house.

I flicked on my light switch and looked around the room. It was not your average young girl’s room. My walls were painted blue and lime green with green paint splattered all over them, like they do in some glow in the dark places. I set my purse on my bed, which was unmade from when I had gotten up that morning. Just as I sat my placed that purse on the bed my phone rang. It was April.

"Hey! What time you coming by?" I asked her
"I’m actually down the street right now, want to come meet me?" She asked me with hope in her voice that I would actually go.
"I guess, ill see you in a sec" I laughed. I hung up the phone and threw it onto my bed.
I ran up the stairs and down the hall and threw on my shoes that were killing my feet already that day. I opened the door and stood on the porch and waited for her to walk up the drive way.
"hey skank" April joked
"Hey mattrace" I laughed joking about her old nickname. April and I walked down to my room complaining that we both were so tired from school and could really use a nap.
"so you wanna like sleep for a while and then get up and get ready?" I asked her
"That sounds like the best idea I have herd all day!" She responded. We both jumped onto opposite ends of my bed and laid down. I guess it was good that my bed was built for two.
We both slept till about six. I woke up and rolled over, little did I know that when I rolled over I would end up on the floor.
"Ouch, that kinda hurt!" I gasped
"Oh my god steph, that was like the funniest thing ever." She laughed.
I slowly pushed myself up and walked over to my computer. I turned on my music and told April that we had better get ready if we wanted to leave at eight.

After about 2 hours of showering and putting on make up and getting dressed, we were finally ready. April wore her little gray sweater that only covered half of her stomach and a black tank top under and wore her favorite black pants. I wore a brown sweater with my black t-shirt under it with my light jeans. We both decided that running shoes were our best bet to wear knowing that we would probably fall over in any other type of shoe.
We hurried to catch the bus so we could be on our way. Had we had left two minutes later we would have missed our bus. We sat on the bus excited and talking about how we hoped the night would turn out.
"So, you really like josh eh? You know I have known him since we were like nine right?" April stated.
"Yeah, I know you have. So what is he really like? I haven’t really asked crystal about him, I’m kind of scared she may get mad if she found out how I felt about him."
"Well, I have known him a long enough time to tell you not to get tangled up with him. I just don’t want to see you get hurt. He is kind of an asshole, not to mention I have heard cheater passed a long for a while." April sadly stated with gratitude in her voice.
"Really? Aw man I always pick the guys who I should not get involved with but whatever, I love a challenge." I cleverly said back
"Oh trust me he will be a challenge. But be careful." April warned me.

By the time we had ended out conversation we had made it to the roller palace. I waited in line in agony in hopes that Josh would show up and begin my night. Of course he was not invited but a girl could still dream. As I stared off into space fantasizing how things would go, I would run into josh and then make some dumb comment about how being there was lame and I only came with April and then he would tell me about how he hates it here and was only here because he herd I was going to be here and then we would walk off holding hands and bomb we were getting married. As I foolishly fantasized about him, April and I walked into the roller rink and walked over to the booth to grab some rollerblades.
"Oh my god, there is Yanni" April whispered in my ear.
"Who is that?" I asked
"Well he and I dated for a little while, he is like in love with me and he will do anything to go back out with me. Oh and he has beat the shit your of your lover boy." She laughed
"Really? Aw poor josh but, I guess he is ok if he is still living."
As April and I walked over to the lockers to put our shoes in someone called her name. I didn’t recognize the name though, but then I heard my name.
