Life Throws Curve Balls Chp 9
Chpt 9
Peter, April, Crystal, Josh and I all hopped out of the car to head towards Darren's house. Clink-clink-clink was all you herd coming from the bags in our hands full of alcohol and frozen foods. We knocked on the front door and waited for someone to come to the door. As the door slowly opened I began to play out the night, we would eat and then get shit faced, because we are young and stupid and that is what teenagers do.
We all followed Darren inside and passed the beautiful staircase that stood right at the front door. We walked passed the living room and TV room right through until we hit the kitchen.
"You guys can put your stuff on the table while Josh and Peter help me start up the barbeque." Darren stated.
Crystal, April and I all put our stuff down on the table and watched through the sliding door; the guys attempt to get the Barbeque going.
"So how long do you think it will take for these guys to start it up?" April asked
"I don't know, but I just came up with a great joke! Ok so how many guys does it take to get a Barbeque going?" Crystal asked.
"Hmm... I don't know?" I stated.
"Ha! Ok three, one to "observe" one to turn the dial and the other to set the thing on fire" She laughed. Funny enough at that moment we looked out the window and there was Peter observing and wait for it...wait for it... Ah there is the fire, and there they run! Stupid guy's can never do the right thing. The three of us laughed our heads off and stuck our heads out the window,
"Pussy!" We all screamed together as we laughed harder from the look on their faces.
The guys stared at us for what felt like five minutes before they walked up the BBQ and set it to the right temperature.
The three of us placed all the food on the table for the "men" to cook while we sat back and relaxed. Darren had a fairly big backyard and only two fences. One in the back and one on the left side, the right side just ran into his neighbour's backyard. Down a few feet from his deck where the BBQ was, there was a mini swing. The three of us ran to it and sat down.
"So, you think we're going to be eating burnt food tonight guys?" I asked.
"Well judging by the reaction of when the flames went up earlier, I'm goanna say yes!" Crystal laughed.
We watched the boys play with the food and burn it as they bonded talking about cars and money.
Of course they burnt the food and did not heat the vegetables properly so they were cold, about the best worst dinner of my life I would have to say.
Later that night as we cleaned up the pile of burnt crisps all over the backyard, Josh and Peter left to go buy some beer and chips for later that night.
"Typical, they leave us to clean up after them" April shouted
"Hey! I'm still hear you know!" Darren stated.
"Yes but, you're not both of them now are you!" Crystal laughed.
"I could try to be, but I may get a bit bi-polar" He laughed.
Twenty minutes had gone past since Peter and Josh had disappeared. Then suddenly we could hear loud base and a loud car engine inch closer and closer. April looked at all of us and rolled her eyes.
"God, you think he would turn that shit down once in a while" April growled
From the corner of my eye I saw Josh creeping up from the side of the house. I was sitting in the deck at the edge when he came right up and stood in front of me.
"Hey, I got you something" Josh whispered into my ear
"Really! what!" I begged him to tell me.
"Ok here" He said as he handed me a bouquet white roses.
"Aww, Josh you shouldn't have! I love them!" I smiled and set down the flowed and embraced him in my arms. We hugged for a few minutes and I turned my head and saw that Peter had given Crystal a rose and April a bouquet of flowers as well. I looked back at josh and kissed him so passionately. He was so perfect; he cooked dinner and bought me food! Gosh I love this boy I thought to myself.
After we all went inside and brought our alcohol downstairs we all sat on the couch and started to celebrate Peter's 20th birthday. We drank a lot. I remember having a drink called Moonshine that Darren and Peter had mixed last time they had drank together. I also remember that was the night that April and Peter first had sex. They were in Darren's bathroom a long ass time. At one point that night I managed to sit on the edge of the couch and fall overlooking up at the ceiling saying
"Weee, that was fun let's do it again" And then someone yelling to Josh to pick his girlfriend up off the floor. The night went by as a blur mostly except when Crystal wasn't feeling good. I remember her feeling sick to her stomach because she had drunk way too much of that moonshine crap.
We all got tired and decided that at 430am it was time to go to sleep. We all slept on Darren's basement floor beside each other except Crystal and Darren who shared a couch together. April slept close to the edge of the couch, then came Peter, Me and then Josh. I was trying to sleep when I felt something hit the top of my forehead. I opened my eyes to see Darren throwing penny's at me.
"Darren! I am going to kill you! Stop I am trying to sleep" I growled.
Darren just laughed and continued to throw pennies at me. So I got up and moved over to the one seater chair and flopped my butt down on the cushion. I managed to fall asleep for about a half hour when I herd someone moving around. I saw Crystal awake and looking very uncomfortable.
"Hey, you ok?" I asked.
"No, I think I'm going to go upstairs and steal Darren's bed, do you want to come with me?" She asked. I didn't even give her an answer before I stood up and started walking to the stairs. Crystal and I walked up two flights of stairs and walked into Darren's bedroom. Before I hit the pillow I was fast asleep.
I woke up about five hours later when Darren had found us in his room.
"Hey. So this is where you guys ran off to last night" He laughed.
"Yeah, we couldn't sleep down there." Crystal told him. We got out of his bed and walked down to the basement again. We herd April laughing from the top of the stairs.
"What's so funny?" Crystal and I asked.
"You missed it, this morning I woke up to see Peter's leg on top of josh and they were both cuddling each other" She laughed hysterically. Crystal and I both looked at each other and laughed as hard as we could. The guys looked so embarrassed and tried to tell us they thought it was me and April.
We sat and watched The Fast and furious Tokyo Drift and continued to make fun of Josh and Peter.
