Life of a Teenage Girl - Chapter 9
Stacey is a typical teen girl... well kinda her life is messed up. Her parents are in the middle of their divorce arrangements and the school jocks hate her. On top of all that she is confused about why her secret childhood love suddenly starts to talk to her, besides who is the mysterious guy who suddenly entered her life?!
"Stacey who's..." my mom trailed to look at the person standing, but she didn't seem taken aback about it, she just smiled and said, "Mr. Wilson; how may I help you?!"
He looked unsure then gave her a polite smile and said, "Hello Mrs. Johnson, I was wondering if Stacey would like to take a walk with me?!"
My body stiffened and went numb at the words, its like I was living a dream my mother was looking at me her lips moving, and I suddenly realized she was saying something.
"Huh?!" She shook her head at me slightly smiling.
"I said, I am ok with it, that is if you actually want to go?!" She looked at me dubiously.
"U-um sure, I w-will just grab my jacket."
I turned around walking up the stairs, when mom reminded me I had to go say bye to the Anderson's before I leave. I rushed out and saw Eric give me this weird look that I didn't understand, anyway the only thought currently occupying my head was what the hell is the school's popular jock doing at my porch?! I kept thinking about all possibilities, but figured I will just have to ask him.
I went out and sure he was still standing there, his back to me, I cleared my throat a little and he quickly turned around with a big smile, looking at me straight in the eye, I dropped my gaze into the ground I just couldn't take it.
"I don't want to sound rude or anything, but um what are you doing here?!" He chuckled at my uneasiness and took a step closer, more like a reflex I took a step back very abruptly, I had to hold on the door to not trip.
"I think we should start walking, your sister is giving me the deathly look." He said that so softly, I had a feeling Suzie was scaring the crap out of him, I just smiled at him fighting the urge to storm back inside and crawl under my blanket from the embarrassment I felt.
We just started walking in silence, after a good five minutes of pure awkwardness he broke the silence.
"I remember you..." He trailed, he took me off guard, I was pretty sure he forgot about me a long time ago, but decided not to ask.
"Pardon?"
"I used to live here, I remembered your house." He didn't even glance at my direction and just continued.
"I used to come over and play with you, do you remember the swing your dad built for us, it was your gift to me on my birthday, I remember everything as though it was yesterday." I stood there rather shocked, I mean how did he remember all this, I just smiled at him and kept walking and trying to take it all in. Here I thought all this years that he forgot about our childhood friendship, but he remembered our very first meeting.
*FLASHBACK*
I was walking with my mommy towards our house when I heard someone shouting, I looked up to see a little boy around my age laying flat back on the ground and crying. And his parents trying to take him inside the house, I asked my mommy about them and she told me they were the new neighbors and we decided to bake them a cake. When we took it over the lady from earlier opened the door and I heard her tell mommy that her husband and son went out.
"Why was he crying earlier?" My mommy asked her and she told her that he wanted a swing, but they didn't have a big tree to make him one and she also invited us to his birthday party next Friday.
I was so excited because I like parties, but I had to think about a gift to get him, and suddenly I had the perfect idea.
When we went to the party the following Friday, I went up to him and introduced myself.
"I am Stacey." I told him, his cheeks turned red and he hid behind his mom, so I grabbed his hand and pulled him outside his house, he started to protest but I didn't stop. I dragged him across the street to my own house and to our backyard.
"Um... I heard that you wanted a swing, so I made my daddy build us one, so you can come and play here anytime you want," he didn't say anything but kept staring at the swing, me and daddy made.
"Really?!" He asked sounding hopeful.
"Yes of course, it's for your birthday... do you like it?!" I asked him.
"YES, YES, YES!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU." He started jumping up and down.
Then I told him we had to go back to the party, but he could come play with me any time he wants.
And from then onwards we were inseparable...
