Life Changing Rosa! - Chapter One

The wind whipped past the open window, a chill passed through the classroom; outside the leaves were dancing around the playground looking for an escape through the fence. Would Mr. Geofferson ever stop talking? Rosa didn't think so he usually went through an entire lesson of history without us doing any work.

Last thing on a Tuesday Rosa looked out the window towards the school gate where the usual group of chatting parents were waiting to collect their 'precious' children. Rosa knew who wouldn't be there. She never was, Rosa couldn't remember the last time her mum had picked her up from school, not that she was bothered, why should she be? She was thirteen, old enough to make her own way home from school on the bus even though it was lonely. Besides her mother didn't have time for things like that. Now her two part-time cleaning jobs took most of her time up and if she wasn't cleaning she was out with her new boyfriend Jonny.

The bell finally rang and the children started pushing their way to the door and through them. Rosa pulled her coat tight around herself whilst walking into the cold spring afternoon air. Rosa headed for the bus stop past the chatting group of parents now with their children. "Rosa, Rosa over here!" A voice shouted out.

Rosa turned to look around and see her mother waving at her from amongst the crowd of parents and fellow pupils from school. Rosa's, mother's face looked anxious and upset, Rosa ran over towards her mother. Why was her mother here? What had happened to make her mother look so worried?
