Maddie's POV
I woke up the next morning to find Josh playing the new video game.
"Hey babe your finally awake"
"Yahh, what time is it"
"Ahh its 8:00"
"What do you want to do today"
He stopped playing the video game and sat on the couch next to me.
"Idk kiss a little"
He put his hand on the back of my neck and kissed my neck softly, moving upward towards my mouth. He got up and walked into the kitchen.
"You want breakfast?"
"Ummm I'm not really hungry"
"Okay"
He ran over and poked my side
"Bet you can't get me"
He took off running upstairs and I chased after him. He ran into his room and jumped under the covers as if I didn't see him. I ran over and jumped on top of him pulling the blankets off his head. He smiled and kissed me pulling me on top of him.
"Do you want to go to the park?"
"Sure"
We got up and started walking. When we got there we went over to the swings and started swinging. He pushed me really high and told me to jump. There was a lake next to the swings and I was high enough that when I jumped I landed in the water. Josh came over to help me up and I pulled him in with me.
Just then we heard something move in the bushes.
"Who's there?" Josh is so brave! Nobody answered.
"I know somebody is there who is it?" He stepped out of the bush revealing a guy in a mask. The same mask as the night I was shot.
"Its me"
"Who's me?"
"Maddie's father"
"WHAT!?!?!" my father lived with me. What was he talking about
"I am your real father, I didn't mean to shoot you I swear it hurt me to see you on the ground like that. I'm sorry that I probably ruined your birthday"
"How did you know it was my birthday?"
"I told you I am your father"
"No, my father is at home."
"I know it sounds stupid but will you let me tell you the truth?"
I got out of the water and went and sat on a picnic bench with Josh holding my hand.
"Yahh"
"Before you were born your mother and I had been fighting a lot. I promised her that I would be there for your birth. The night you were born your mother kicked me out and told me to never show my face again. Even though you didn't know it I was in your life. I went to all your concerts and everything I could. I wanted to support you as best as I could. I went to your house the other night to find you and to talk. James your brother also my son, called the police and everything went wrong"
"Why didn't mom tell me?"
"I don't know but I want to find out. I want you to live with me"
"But I love it here, I love everything. I can't just move"
"It wouldn't be far. You will still got to the same school. Think about it. I talked to your mom and we are going to have a court date and I wanted to tell you before she could"
"Okay, I have to go"
I got up and walked away. I had no idea what to think. Was he really my dad?
"Are you okay?"
"No... I'm not"
He stopped me and looked me in the eye.
"It will be okay, You can stay with me another night if you want"
"Yahh"
I took out my phone and texted my mom
I'm spending the night at Josh's
Hunny we need to talk
Well it will have to wait until tomorrow
No you're not allowed to spend the night at Josh's
To bad you can't make me do anything

I turned my phone off and went to Josh's house
"What do you want to do?"
"I don't know"
"Umm.. do you want to play video games, watch a movie, something?"
"You can choose"
"Okayy umm.... lets go upstairs and watch a movie on my flat screen t.v."
"Okay"
We headed upstairs and he put in the last song because he knew it was my favorite movie. He pulled me over to the bed and put all his pillows together so it would be comfier then he jumped on the bed and pulled me next to him. I still couldn't get over what had happened in the park and for the first time in 2 years I wanted my knife. I think Josh could tell something was wrong because he got up and shut the movie off.
"Babe, you're not okay, I can see it in your eyes. Do you want to talk about it?"
"There's not really anything to say"
"Do you want to cry?"
"No, I want my knife"
"No you haven't done it for 2 years and I won't let you now. we made a deal and were gonna keep it. I love you too much to let you do that to yourself"

I snuggled up next to him and fell asleep. The next morning he wasn't there. I turned my phone back on and there was a message from Drake

"Hey babe, I made you breakfast."

I walked home and as soon as I got in the door I ran up to my room and my mom followed.
"We need to talk"

"Yes I told him last night"
"So are you going to fight for us?"
"No, he's just going to get you I think it will be better for you and James"

I got off my bed and ran outside. I wasn't quite sure where I was going. I just started walking. I bumped into Drake

"Yahh it is its pointless, your retarded and high so just go home and sleep"
I walked away and saw him walking towards me. I started running as fast as I could. I didn't look back I just kept running. I had no idea where I was running and why. I was scared. I sat down and took out my knife. I knew I had promised not to but I couldn't help it. I slit my wrists more than once. It hurt so bad and it got my mind off things. When I was satisfied I got up and started walking. I saw somebody walking towards me and as he got closer I could tell it was Josh. I quickly put my arm behind my back and I realized that he would be so mad if he found out.
"Babe, are you okay? I went to your house and your mom said you took off running"
"No, I'm not okay. I want to live with my dad. I want to get away from everyone and everything."
I started crying. I sat down and wrapped my arms around my legs. He sat down beside me and wrapped his arms around me. His arm hit my cuts and I yelled oww!
"Did I hurt you? I'm so sorry I didn't mean to"
"No you didn't hurt me I hurt myself" I showed him my arm and he started crying
"Why did you do it?"
"I don't know, I was hurt, I can't trust anyone but you and you weren't there"
"You broke your promise"
"I'm sorry, you have to forgive me. I won't ever do it again"
"You might, what happens if I'm not there for you again?"
"I will call you"
"And what if I'm busy?"
"You can have my knife"
I pulled out the knife from my pocket and handed it to him. He took it stood up and chucked it as far as he could.
"Why did you do that?"
"Now you can't have it again"
"Why does it matter to you anyway?"
"Because I love you. I don't want you hurt. I want you to be happy and pain is not happy"
"Neither is sad"
"I will be here for you, Forever! I will never leave you"
He leaned over and started kissing me. He put his hands around my waist and I put my hands around his neck.
