Lies And Deception [Chapter 3]

Once everything has cleared up her mind, or has it? There's something inside Kartina that is dying to get out.
Lies And Deception [Chapter 3]
Katrina couldn’t think or breath after what Josiah had just told her. The thought of it was slowly processing through her brain, like she couldn’t yet comprehend what he had just told her. All her worrying about being someone’s slave didn’t need to happen, she should’ve just trusted him when he told her that she didn’t need to worry about it. She looked up at him, he was frowning down at her as he waiting for some sort of reaction from her or a response.

"Are- Are you serious?" Her voice was unsteady, that she brought her slender hand to rest on her chest while she tried to catch a few deep breaths.

"Yeah, I didn’t know what I would’ve done if you were place with someone else. They aren’t friendly, Katrina. If it wasn’t me, you would’ve been placed with someone who… would’ve done horrible things to you."

"Josiah, that’s, that’s…. that’s great!" She flung is arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, not wanting to let him go.

After a long held hug, she finally let him go with a huge smile on her face. Playfully, she punched his side, "Damn, Josiah, you’re like… The best friend ever."

There was a hint of disappointment in Josiah’s expression, but it went unnoticed by Katrina. He simply smiled at her reaction as the two headed down the alleyway, which was filthy. Papers were rolling along the ground, being carried to the back of the alley by wind, while garbage was piled up high. It didn’t seem like the garbage men took the garbage for awhile, or someone had just done some major spring cleaning.

The fact that she was now out and about, breathing in city air, and hearing all the nose was finally settling in. This feeling of freedom was going to make it hard for her to go back, back to the crammed room with everyone else. She was actually frightened to go back, everyone else were getting violent that at times she felt like the only sane person there.

Reaching the end of the road, a horrifying feeling swept through her body and it felt like something else was about to take over. Suddenly she realized how terrible this really was, that it there was another part in her, that was trapped inside and wanted to get out. It wanted food and inside her mind it was telling her to go after the next vulnerable person she saw.

"Kat.."

A cool hand gently gripped her elbow, snapping her out of it. Glancing up at him, she weakly smiled at Josiah and ran her fingers through her hair, hold it off her neck for a moment.

"I don’t know if I can do it," Katrina finally admitted, feeling that she wasn’t ready to face all these people out here when their blood called to her. She could already taste them right now, the warm blood flowing down her throat, "I.. can’t. Take me back, I’m not ready."

His hand still gripped her elbow and he was looking at her with an intense stare, "you won’t be able to resist anything if you’re in there any longer. They’re just making you their demons, Katrina… Listen to me, okay? If you’re in there any longer, around everyone else in there, you’ll soon become like everyone else even though you don’t think so."

"Josiah…"

"Please, Kat, I’m talking," He looked down at her, letting her elbow going slowly and stuffed his hands into the pockets of his worn jeans, "I’ll help you go through it, okay? I won’t let you do anything you regret, I’ll be right beside you the entire time… We’ll be back in less then two hours, you can make it."

Katrina nodding, feeling that she had no other choice then to trust him. There had been no other reason that she shouldn’t trust him and the point about not being around humans wouldn’t make her any better. Slowly, she took in deep breaths to clear her mind and get her other half out.

"Alright," she finally said.

"You trust me?" Seeing her head nod, Josiah grinned, "Alright then."

He took her hand in his, giving two quick glances before crossing the street.
"Where are we going?" She asked curiously, wondering where they could possibly be going. In her mind, she prayed that it wasn’t someplace crowded.

"Just to the park," He told her, letting her relax after realizing it wasn’t a public place. To him, the park meant spending alone time with her in some place else, so there minds weren’t wondering over everyone else.
