Lies and Deception [Chapter 1]
"Hey, Kat… Are you up?"

Sitting up at the sound of the familiar voice, her lungs filled with excitement. It feels like ages since she last heard that voice and at times she doubted that she would ever hear that voice again. It belong to one of the few that paid any attention to her, other then the ones who’s job it is to keep her alive. She didn’t know what she’d do without him, probably give in and become like everyone else around here, bitter and thirsty for power.

"Josiah? Where the hell have you been?" She asked a bit to loud, creating a shutter through the entire room. There were others in the room going through the same process as she was, but they were all different then her. Most of them already seem to give in to the beast inside. She wasn’t ready yet to let go of the life she lived before.

"Shhh!"

Katrina could see his outline from the faint candle light from the hallway. The place where they stuffed her and held her captive with all the other new fledglings was pitch black. The first few days she was here, the darkness was a problem for all of them. It was impossible to see, but now her eyes have adjusted to the darkness and she can see the shapes of other bodies in the room.

"Sorry," Katrina spoke in a soft voice, moving carefully over the sleeping bodies. Finally making it towards the door, she took a hold of the door and smiled at his friendly face, "what’s the plan?"

Josiah smiled, his fangs showing. Seeing them made her wonder when her fangs would grow to be that length. He had told her that it takes over a year to get them to there full length, that his too were still growing. But, still, it felt like she couldn’t do much damage with the ones she had.

"We’re breaking you out," Josiah sounded a bit too confident, but she was sure that it had to be harder then how it sounded.

"What!?"

"Oh, come on Kat, it’s about time."

"Josiah, no… No! It’s too risky."

There was that smile again, like she had just said the magic words. He reached for her wrist and took it with a firm grip, pulling her out of the dark room. Slowly, the door shut behind the two, leaving them in a candle lit hallway. Even though Katrina didn’t know where they were at, she was positive that they had to be underground. The stone walls were cool and damp, while the air around her was freezing.

"Are you insane? We’ll get caught for sure."

"No we won’t, Katrina.. Trust me. You don’t know what’s behind these walls and it’s just for a few hours."

Hearing that it was only for a few hours instead of forever sounded good. At first, the sound of being broke out, she thought that they were going to go on the run. She wasn’t sure she’d be able to make it through everything if she didn’t have everyone to help her. It was already difficult to resist everything, but she was noticing that it was easier then it been at first.

Apparently, she didn’t look quit convinced still for he took her hand and began to lead her down the hallway, "No one will be showing up for another four hours. We’ll only be out for two and a half, I’m not sure you can still stand everything still."

"What do you mean stand everything?"

"I mean that you probably still won’t be able to resist everyone out there yet. The temptation to attack and run.. So only two and half hours, then we’ll come back."

She nodding, thinking that was just enough time to be out of here. Anytime out of that dark room would help her, clear her mind and feel that slight moment of freedom. It’ll be the first time she’d step out of here, be outside since the day she was brought here.

"Sound like a plan?"

"Sounds like a plan," She told him with a firm nod.

They took many turns and went through many doors that only lead to another hallway, but soon, he slowed down. Cautiously, he opened the big wooden door and peered through the other side. The sound of others talking filled Katrina’s ears. The talk did not sound friendly to her, it actually sounded like the vampires behind the door was arguing. Voices were being raised and the sound of a chair hitting the wall echoed through the hallway, making her jump. How were they suppose to get out now? Making it through the group without being noticed is impossible. This is not good.
