The Smart Watch Phone

Watch phones may have been the stuff of science fiction and spy stories, but the GD910 is the real deal. From the built in camera to the video call capabilities, you might think that the GD910 popped out of a novel. This new LG device came as a surprise because no one expected that a watch phone would be so practical. After all, using a phone that is strapped to you wrist brings about a lot of logistical control and input problems, not to mention all the size restrictions. LG has been able to solve and circumvent many of these problems by wisely applying touch screen, Bluetooth and other amazing technologies to bring the functional watch phone into reality.

LG’s Interface Bliss

The interface for the LG GD910 is a product of geniuses who really put a lot of passion into this device. Slide your finger across the screen to switch between different menus. Small prompts keep you informed of the orientation of the menu and helps keep things simple; moving around takes only a few gestures and you will hardly ever have to pause and think about your next step. Getting used to the controls is even easier, just play around with the watch phone for a while and before you know it, you’re connecting to HSDPA and making video calls.

The only thing that might slow you down is the message input controls of the phone; the virtual keypad takes a little getting used to. It’s small, even for people with small fingers, tapping the right buttons takes a bit to get used to. Fortunately, you the option of using the phone’s text to speech option and this software works rather well. The only drawback is that you will not be able to discreetly speak messages into your phone when you are in a meeting.

Watch Phone Drawbacks

Being a watch phone, the GD910 is not a perfect mobile device, it does have limitations that are expected from a device of this nature. First is the lack of expandable memory options. While 2GB might be a lot for a watch phone, many people have gotten used to accessing data on their devices. Also, there is a noticeable amount of slowdown when using the device. You will get used to it, but the initial reaction makes the touch screen experience a little jarring. That aside, this is a good phone with a few minor but understandable problems.
