Letting God Lead
"Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." God’s phone is never busy! You can call anytime!
As we go through life there are many times when everything is down, it seems that God has deserted us and that everything that was once lovely and beautiful in the world is now gone…many times it seems that even our faith has disappeared. If we look in the Bible, we will find people going through situations just like we do. In the passages to follow, I will outline just a couple of them and show how they got through their trial and became shining examples of faith in God.
"When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, "This is how your slave treated me," he burned with anger. Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did." Gen 39:19-23
Everyone knows the story of Joseph…but just take a moment and think about what that man went through; he was taken by his own brothers and sold into slavery, but he remained faithful to the Lord, he kept his faith in the only One that could see him through such an awful trial, he kept his sight on God. And the Lord blessed him for it making him the head of Potiphar’s household. When Joseph was betrayed, he got sent to prison but still he kept his sight on God…and again God blessed, making him head of the prison!
This seems just a guy that goes from bad to worse, constantly being betrayed by the people around him…I bet there were times when he was in despair, I bet there were times when he felt that it was not possible to go on, but he kept his faith in God and eventually he became head of all of Egypt!
"For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I have not done evil by turning from my God. All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees. I have been blameless before him and have kept myself from sin. The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in his sight. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect." 2 Sam. 22:22-25, 30-33
David was another man that went through a lot in his life; many of his trials were of his own doing but all we have to do, is to take a look at the verses above and we will be able to see that despite his mistakes and despite all that went through during his life, David was a man that had faith. He depended on the Lord for everything. The leadership of the Lord in his life was a lifeline that David held on to. In the first part we can see how David is striving for perfection in the Lord, he is trusting in the Lord and trying to live his life according to God’s word and the second part is a declaration of the Lord’s leadership and guidance, it is telling how God is a light to all who seek Him, how God can be the strength that you need to get through.
All you have to do in to put your faith in Him and let Him lead you because He is able.
