Letterman Jacket Design

The students who contribute to the reputation and prestige of their school or college, by achieving success in academics, sports or any other discipline are awarded by the varsity letter and the letterman jacket. This jacket is usually made in fabrics of the official school colors. However, today, most of the students prefer to make their own jackets so that they can attach the awarded varsity letter on it.

Many companies provide varsity jackets with a customized set of features. These types of jackets are made by the company in the style and design of the customer's choice. Many high school students who have graduated prefer to have their own customized jackets, so that they can place their achievements of school on one single jacket. A great advantage of ordering such a jacket from the company directly is, it tends to be inexpensive. I remember that when I graduated from high school, my batch-mates designed a black plain letterman jacket for all the students. Later on, the varsity letters were sewn on the jackets individually by each person. All the sports people placed their varsity letters on the left chest and all the would-be military recruits placed their letters on left shoulders. The cheerleaders placed their letters on the right arm and the geeks placed it on the left chest. The music addicts and artists placed their numbers on the back. Guess what, one of my Varsity letters is on the back and the other on the left arm.

The best way to create your own letterman jacket design is to refer to earlier designs that you used in your school days. Also, bear in mind the number and size of varsity letters that you achieved in high school. As mentioned above, you can also design a jacket for all your batch-mates and order it in bulk. All the students wear their jackets for batch reunions that take place in many schools. Well, it looks very funny sometimes, and we also end up having nice conversations about our good old days!

There are some points that you have to take into consideration, while designing your own jacket. Firstly, what material is the jacket going to be made up of? It might be a synthetic or woolen or cotton jacket. Personally I would recommend a cotton jacket so that it can be worn in any season. The second point that you must consider is that whether the jacket going to be a closed neck type or a will it have an open neck with a zip running all the way to the waist? The zip can also have another alternative, it can come down only till half the length of the jacket. This must be decided according to the climate of the region that you live in. The last thing that you must take into consideration, is the sleeves of the jacket. Basically, two types of sleeves are used in a varsity jacket, which are, the one with a set of stripes on it and the other that does not have any stripes on it.

It is also recommended that you put in the university's and school's logo and color on the jacket to give a special effect and emotion of integration among your teammates and batch-mates.
