Less Than Perfect

About me feeling so much less than what everyone wants me to be.
For those of you who don't know me,
I'm just a girl with a backwards smile.
So why don't you just sit for a while,
And figure out how this could be.

Well some might call me selfish for wanting more than I already have,
But is it really so wrong to want or to need,
For someone to see the broken side of me.
The one the lingers upon my frayed edges,
The feeling that drive spikes like wedges.

Do you think I write these poems because I think it is a thing fun to do?
To repeat the invisibility, hearing the whispers who is that?..... Yes who?
I am nobody, nobody cares, or then I wouldn't be alone,
Writing my pain away here.

I cut because it hurts, I burned because it scars, do you hear me now!?
No you don't, you haven't heard me from the start.
Someday I will tear out this useless heart.
You can have it back. I don't want it at all.
This cross you make me carry is too tall.

Who are you?
What will you be?
Will you be perfect?
I know I'll always be what they want to see.
Like?
Yes
No
