Lego Star Wars 2 for the Sony PS2 (Playstation2)

Imagine Lego that comes to life and tells one of the greatest fictional stories ever created... then you just imagined Lego Star wars 2 on the Playstation2 video game console.
When Traveller’s Tales and Eidos released the game version of the second Star Wars trilogy last April 2005, gaming fans had something new to look forward to. It was a hit for both young and adult gaming fans as the game was rendered as if it were made of Lego, the popular building block toy. But after a little over a year, there is already a second installment on the way.

In Lego Star Wars 2, players are taken through the entire trilogy starting with the first levels of Episode IV: A New Hope. You will also get to do some simple puzzle solving along the way. It takes a nice combination of on-foot and vehicular action, as anything is possible with the Lego Star Wars 2.

Two new game plays are offered for this installment of the Star Wars game, the Story and Free Play mode. Any fan of the movie would truly find it exciting to get a chance to play the characters in the movie. In each level, you also get to find hidden items. You also get to earn bonus points through collecting Studs that will allow you to fill up a meter on the top.

Two-player gaming is also possible by simply plugging in a controller and pressing the start button. The character of player two is determined by whichever character player one is in control of. But unfortunately, there is no online play for this game. But this fact does not take anything away from the whole gaming experience.

Switching characters is also as simple as entering a new player into the game. For the story mode, you have to face the character and press the triangle button. And while in Free Play mode, just press R1 and L1 buttons to change characters.

Along the game, you will find bacta tanks where you can create your own custom characters and use them during Free Play. You will see three lounges labeled IV, V and VI where you will have access to the levels. If you have completed the first level in episode IV, more levels will be opened up to you.

Unlike some game titles, the control system for this game discourages button-bashing as it requires single buttons to activate any desired action. Just press a single button if you want your character to employ special attacks, or to do certain things like unlocking doors. However, you will have some problem with the controls like when controlling a vehicle because it only allows you limited vision in the left and right, instead of allowing you to see everything that you are doing.

When it comes to graphic and technical enhancements, the auto game save and faster loading times are welcome additions. Meanwhile, the graphics are as good as the movie itself and allows you to fulfill the ultimate Star Wars experience. When it comes to the sound and music aspect, some of them are taken directly from the movie.

If you want to try your hand on the Lego Star Wars 2 to see if it could indeed match the gaming experience of the first installment, then grab your copy now and enjoy the game for yourself, or with a friend.
