Lego Death Star Review

The Danish Lego group is one of the most unique of toy makers. They have been delivering incredibly detailed construction model toys for children for more than six decades now. The zest of the company's founder Ole Kirk Christiansen, who created wooden toys has been carried forward dutifully. Lego products are great educational toys for children, as they develop their spatial understanding and discover the joy of building. Many Lego products have made it to the list of best selling toys of all time. One of my personal favorite Lego construction toys is the Death Star. Being a die-hard fan of the Star Wars series, this set was a joy to behold.

People in search of 'Nerdvana' (the Nerd version of Enlightenment) should check out this set for the sheer precision, design and detailing with which it has been created. For those who came in late, the fictional Death Star depicted in the Star Wars series is a weapon of mass destruction, with size comparable to the Moon, which has the capability of destroying an entire planet! Thanks to the heroic deeds of Luke Skywalker, it is successfully destroyed. The design is based on this fictional WMD, and matches it in excruciating details along with miniature figures.

Review for Kidults

I have pitched this review at Kidults, nerds like me, who find no shame in still appreciating the beauty of an elaborately designed and built toy and parents contemplating buying one for their children. After all, designing a toy is an art that very few have mastered. When Lego creates a model, it is always done in style. The Death Star is no exception to this. It is certainly not one of the cheap Legos. Priced at $399.99, this model is a scale version of Emperor Palpatine's deadly weapon. The appropriate age group for the set is 14+. The very minute pieces make it hazardous for children from lower age groups.

The model is made up of 3803 precisely manufactured pieces. Putting these pieces together is no child's play! Without instructions on building it, it's quite a challenge. So here is a review detailing what's packed inside this great construction toy.

Battle Station Details
The battle station has been recreated in excruciating details, including the control room, multiple station decks, hangar bay, turbolaser turrets, detection block, throne room of the Emperor, droid facility, along with the advanced starfighter and much more. There are movable parts inside. The complete model stands about 16" in height and extends about 16½ inches in width. These dimensions should give you an idea about the level of design effort that has gone into it.

Mini Figurines of the Entire Star Wars Cast
The whole set comes with 24 small figures of the entire cast including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Darth Vader, Leia, Emperor Palpatine and storm troopers, droids, a trash compactor monster and of course R2-D2 with many more prime characters.

It is indeed a great Christmas gift for your children which they will enjoy building along with you. It's indeed one of best creative toys for children.
