Lee, That's Me! - Chapters 13 and 14

Lee's back in school! Is everyone happy to see her?
Chapter 13: Back to School

It's really disturbing when everyone's focus is on you, right? EXTREMELY disturbing! It's as if they're watching your every move, waiting for you to say or do something.
I noticed that all pairs of eyes were focused on me, including Plump's angry eyes that didn't seem best pleased with me when I walked in.
I stayed very quiet and not moving. I wasn't giving anyone satisfaction! It carried on like this for a little too long until Plump started calling out the register.
"Steve Richards." Called Plump.
"Good morning, Miss. Plump." Said Steve.
"Good morning." Replied Plump.

It's what we usually do. Personally, I don't see the point in it. I think we should be able to carry on throughout the school years without attendance awards. When I get those certificates, which I usually do, it's like... paper?
I come to school... for paper? But hey, I don't mind school one bit. In fact I think it's pretty cool! Hanging out with your friends, discovering talents, all sorts!
"Lee." Said Plump through gritted teeth.
I couldn't help but notice that she still looks upset. Maybe it's something to do with outside school? Omigod! That HAD to be it! No wonder she's upset because no one's even bothering to pay attention to her.

I think I single-handedly, dunno how, grabbed everyone's attention.
"Good morning, Miss. Plump." I said sympathetically, "I really hope you do have a good morning and evening!" I truly meant it.
Why is it that everyone started chuckling again? It's like day-ja-vu! I like that word. Day-ja-vu! Day-ja-vu! Day-ja-vu!
I was busy humming to myself until I met eyes with Plump's glare.
"I really hope so too, Lee." Plump replied. I smiled assuring her she will. My ears worked overtime because I heard her mutter, "I doubt it."

Poor woman! How awful is it to have something truly bad happening to you and you have to wake up at what, like 6? In the morning! Dad always has to wake up early and he seems ultra bothered about it. Then you have to drive all the way to school and pretend that everything's alr-
Mia? She looks so pale! Paper-white! It's really heartbreaking to see her all down and upset.
I put my arms around her, "Yo Mia, you ok?"
Mia shrugged my arms away furiously, still looking down, not daring to face me.
"Mia?" I said, confused with her unusual behavior, she's never like this!
"Do I look O-K?" She snapped.
I guess not. Something must be bothering her.
Don't worry I found out eventually. Well, not the whole.

It all started off like this:
Plump told us to write a poem for this poetry competition thingy.
Mia immediately got on with her work. Strange.
MIA N-E-V-E-R WORKS! It's usually me, the one who tells her to get on with the work!
She wouldn't talk to me. Weird.
EXTREMELY WEIRD! She's CONSTANTLY talking to me. If it's anyone that should get told off, it should be Mia not me!
After she stopped writing, I assumed she was finished so I asked to read her poem.
She kept shaking her head and told me to bog off.
When Plump asked who wanted to read their poetry, I raised my hands and said, "Mia would like to."
Mia kept on denying but Plump told her to read hers anyway.

Victory! Mia raised her work in front of her, covering her whole face. I still got a perfect view of her side of the face though. She swiveled her eyes and mouthed something at me before reading.

Chapter 14: Poetry Tells You Everything!

Mia is acting way too strange!
***************************************

"I can never forget that day,
Trying to run away,
It was me and my..."
Mia paused. Her hands were shaking in an insane speed. Plump told her to carry on.
"...grandmother,
Talking to each other,
About her olden days,
Little did we know we were someone’s preys!"
Mia’s paper scrunched up against her flaming face.

'That’s... it.' Mia said, her voice shaky and almost pleading.
I had to find out more! So I told Plump the truth. Plump told her to finish reading.
Mia kicked me hardly, in my ankle. OUCH! What was that for?
"Then the scary music started..." Mia let out a loud groan. Everyone looked just as confused as me.
"...before you know it, we were haunted!" She practically screamed that. George Baker fell off his chair in shock. Usually everyone would start laughing at this but I guess Mia’s poem was hooking them in. Clearly, I can see that this is something she wanted to avoid.

"M-m... My grandmother was too slow..." Mia’s face screwed up in pain but she carried on reading.
"She kept on insisting I go,
But I wouldn’t listen; I wouldn’t leave without her,
I wouldn’t ever leave her, NEVER!"
She stopped reading and bowed her head down, a bit shamefaced.
"There in front of us, a tall black figure,"
This made everyone, including me jump. We obviously didn’t expect her to carry on. I almost felt guilty for letting my friend be like this. But it’s the only way I’ll find out!

"Made us shiver,
We couldn’t run or scream,
Could this possibly be a dream?
It gave me a very bad fright,
That one awful night,
When I lost my..."
Mia started to cry then. No seriously, she did! It’s not like her. One bit. She's always been a bit of a toughie, never showing her emotions. That’s one of the things I admire about her!

Plump went over to her and wrapped her big arms around Mia’s skinny little body. Unexpectedly Mia mumbled to Plump that I should read my work out.
This sent everyone to confuse to ULTRA confused! Me? Well, I kind of saw it coming. I didn’t actually mind reading my work out but to give Mia satisfaction I groaned. LOUDLY.
Others started to snigger then. If only there was a way of giving her satisfaction, without giving any away to the whole class! Sadly, it’s not meant to be.
Plump smirked and told me to read my work out. Why on earth would she be smirking?
I stood up, clutching my paper and cleared my throat. I’ve seen people do that all the time!

"People think I’m mean,
When actually if you seen,
The real me,
You’ll disagree."
Mia, of all people, started to burst out with laughter. She muttered ‘Yeah right’ loud enough for everyone to hear. I couldn’t help but be bothered by her tone.

"People think I’m a big joker,
But when they put the pieces together,
They’ll know I’m not hilarious,
But serious."
Steve, that jerk, started to laugh then. He practically screamed ‘YEAH RIGHT!’ Needless to say, the entire school probably heard that.
"No one tries to understand,
The honesty I have in my hand,
To protect the world from robots,
It would take a lot!"
Why is everyone laughing for? Even Plump was amused by this! Miss. Honey came by to see what the noise was all about. SHE too laughed!

"Why won’t anyone listen?
To the danger that’s present?
Are they asking to die?
Sigh!"
I let out a VERY huge sigh purposely. This shut them up. Aha!

"But whatever happens,
I’ll make the robots wish they hadn’t,
Messed with me,
For I am, Lee!"
I proudly sat down. Everyone exchanged puzzled glances all around.
What did you think of Lee?
She's a very mean person.
Too funny for words!
She's a... weirdo.
A unique cool girl.
She's thick, thick, thick!
She's quite serious.
An innocent girl, people need to back off!
