The LED (light-emitting diode) was invented by a Russian named Oleg Vladimirovich Losev, in the 1920s. This electronic light source was introduced in the U.S. during the early 1960s. Early versions of LED emitted only low-intensity red light, but now, they are available in various colors and wavelengths. At present, LEDs are being used for a variety of purposes and are very much popular for their durability, efficiency and environment-friendly nature.
