Leaving To Begin

When the love and the relationship fail.
I

She came into the room again, raging,
The same play upon a play, staging.
Confronted , cornered, standing by alone,
In the doorway, she blocks, and leaving me prone.
Her thunderous voice, booming, beckoning,
At her mercy, I am left reckoning.
"Please, please," I cry, "tomorrow will be fine,"
The door slams, she claps her hands, what’s the sign?
"Pack your bags, your clothes, every bit of you,
Leave this house today, It’s over, we’re through".

II

My car is packed to the limit, I drive,
Forward to a new world, I will strive.
I know now, what I believed then, you see,
Our shared life is over, not meant to be.
I pass new towns, new places, that I could stay,
I must travel farther, to be away.
Once settled, I will start new and fresh,
New job, new friends, new home, that I will mesh.
For it’s not me, she’ll see, to her chagrin,
I’ve had enough of leaving to begin.
