Leatherman XE6: Is The Leatherman XE6 Multi-tool A Good Buy?

The founder of Leatherman multi-tool is said to have felt the need for a multi-tool when he was touring Europe, read to find out have your ever felt the need and gone to a hardware shop for any of the 16 tools of the multi-tool by Leatherman.
When we are shopping for an army knife multi-tool, we look for many factors. Among these are brand value, versatility, features, design, portability, and price. In this article I am going to take a look at Leatherman XE6 multi tool, and see how it measures up to these factors.

The manufacturers have earned a reputation for making quality tools for outdoor use, with years of standing in the business.

A primary consideration while buying a multi-tool is whether or not it is versatile. This multi-tool has a large number of features; its files and tools can be used for a large number of purposes, involving, wood, metal, etc.

This tool is equipped with two knives. One of these is serrated, while the other is a straight one. It also has an excellent selection of screwdrivers. Apart from a Philips screwdriver, there are three others, of varying sizes. The other tools include a Lanyard attachment, a Diamond file, needle-nose pliers, a corkscrew with assist, an awl, a set of scissors, a saw, wire cutters, including hard wire cutters, and a bottle/can opener.

Deep gray and purple are the color options given to buyers by the manufacturers of this army knife multi tool. This portable tool is only 3.25 inches long, and is ruggedly built, and although it fits comfortably in your palm, it is hefty for its size. Aluminum alloy scales complement the pleasing design.

Not everyone may however look favorably at this tool. For instance, some may feel it’s a bit thick and heavy for its size. That apart, this multi tool does not have locking blades, and does not come with a case. It lacks one-hand knife extension, and scales need better grip. The cock-screw seems out of place, and is liable to get stuck in the fabric of your pocket. Also, the utility of a very short saw blade is questionable. Tools are hard to clean and attract lint. However, all in all, this tool is good value for money, especially as it is moderately priced for such a feature rich device, and is covered by a 25-year warranty.
