Learn to Snowboard
Snowboarding is such a great sport. Give yourself a fair shot at enjoying it by learning to snowboard the right way. Learn what not to do and what you should do to enjoy snowboarding.
Learn to snowboard and have a blast or hate it and never go again. Which one sounds better? If you want to enjoy your snowboarding experience you need to learn it the right way.
The wrong way to learn snowboarding is by renting or borrowing some equipment and going to the top of the mountain and trying to ride down. Chances are you will get hurt, learn improper techniques and never snowboard again. This method works if you don't want to invest too much money into a new sport without knowing whether you like it or not, but learning to snowboard this way almost sets you up for not liking it.
A better method of learning to snowboard would be to hire an instructor. They can increase the learning curve with their knowledge of snowboard tips. However, snowboard instructors are expensive and the lessons don't last long enough to fully answer all your questions. I use to be an instructor and would feel bad when the lesson would end because some students would be just starting to get it, but then I would have to leave and start a new lesson.
The right way to learn snowboarding is by pre-training, before you even get to the slopes, physical training, mental training and on & off hill practicing. The main benefit to this method is that it will program your mind and body for snowboarding. I still love teaching people how to snowboard and have spent a lot of time trying to perfect my teaching. I believe there are many people who are just determined to love snowboarding, but there are also people that need to have a good first experience with it in order to keep doing it. There are a few learn to snowboard books/tutorials available. I found one that that I think is better than the rest because it focuses on Pre-Practicing and that is the key to success on the hill. Plus the authors of the tutorial are two snowboard instructors themselves, so they know what they are talking about.
Snowboarding is all about having fun. Learning to snowboard the right way will only increase the amount of fun. Check out the review I wrote for the snowboarding tutorial I use. Maybe you will like it too click here for the review). Good Luck and Have Fun!!
