Le Loup - Garou Chapter One - A Chance Meeting

Bethany Benedict is just some girl who happened to meet Noah Avery one day walking to the bus stop. Little does she know that Noah is not just some boy, he is a werewolf and he'll do anything to keep that simple fact away from Beth.
The clock went off at 5 o'clock like it always did. I rolled over and threw my pillow over my head. I closed my eyes. The overhead light was too bright for me this morning. I grumbled as I kicked off my blankets, and I walked into the bathroom.
As I starred at myself in the mirror, I began to stare at each of my flaws. My naturally red wavy hair that went down to my shoulders hung like a dead mop this morning, and my green eyes brought out my freckles-my ugly brown freckles that seemed to spot my cheeks only at my cheekbones that were usually red. Disgusted with myself, I turned on the water and I climbed in the shower.
I began to think about my dream that I had last night. Usually I don't dream because usually I never sleep. Last night though, I dreamt I was in a forest. It was really calm. I could almost feel the breeze. I looked at the ground and I was standing in the middle of a symbol of some kind. I looked down at my hands as they slowly turned into paws, like a dogs paws. It was weird. I climbed out of the shower.
I got dressed in my ordinary clothes. My mother dragged herself out of her room and mummbled, "Beth. Don't forget we have that dinner this weekend with your father. He'll be disappointed if you make plans. No Abby this weekend" I said ok and left for school. I only lived a block away from the bus stop that I took everyday to get to school. I counted my steps as I went. As I neared the bus stop I saw that there was a boy sitting on the bench. "Hey" I called out.
"Hi", the boy said in a hushed tone. I walked and a sat next to him on the bench. I smiled.
"I’m Noah Avery." He said almost too quietly to even hear. He took my hand in a soft handshake and then pulled his hand away quickly.
"I’m Beth. Beth Benedict." I said
"It's very nice to meet you Beth." He smiled. We sat in silence waiting for the bus to come. That is, until I got sick of it.
"So, Noah, today's your first day right?" I asked.
"Yeah. I just moved here. My parents bought that new house on Fifth and Ocean."
"Oh I didn't know there were any houses for sale." I smiled," I live right there and I didn't see any signs."
He seemed to blush. "Umm it's because my dad has...people" He said very quietly.
"People?" I asked to see if I had heard right.
"Yes, people I said." He snapped. I snickered." What’s so funny?" He snapped again.
"Nothing Noah. It's just people..."
"There's nothing funny about people Beth."
"I know but the way you said it. Sounds like your dad's in the mob or something." I giggled. I looked at him and he had the most annoyed face on. He turned away. I sat there quietly kicking myself in the butt for being so rude. By the time the bus had come, I was contemplating just leaving and walking to school. The bus pulled up incredibly slow. I handed the bus driver my dollar and took a seat in the front, knowing there were no more seats in the back. Noah passed by me and a second later he was sitting next to me. He scooted himself as far away from me as he could without falling off the seat.
"I'm really sorry for being so rude." I whispered to him. He acted like he didn't even hear me. I leaned my head against the window, and intertwined my hands in my lap. I looked at him out of the corner of my eye and he was just staring at me. 'He's just staring at me.' I thought. I turned my head a little so I was staring at him. The whole 45 minute bus ride we spent staring at each other.
Breaking my gaze, Noah reached up above me and pulled the rope. I grabbed my backpack and got off the bus. Noah and I walked through the park and then we were at school. I met up with my friend Abby, and we walked to my locker. Noah kept walking with us until we got to my locker and then he walked over to the main office.
"What’s up chicken butt? Who was he?" I smiled. I told Abby all about Noah walking to her first period class. The school bell rang though and cut me off.
"Crap. Bye Bethy. See you in Drama." I waved and took off for my class. I ran to the door and opened it slowly.
"It's so nice of you to join us Ms. Benedict. Why don't you take your seat and I can get back to my lesson." My algebra 2 teacher, Mr. Wayne, said to me.
"Sorry Mr. Wayne." I walked with my head down to my seat. When I looked up, my breath was taken from me. 'Oh my god. It can't be.' I thought. It was Noah. I walked with my head down and sat next to him. He looked at me then looked away. I took out my notebook and began copying down the problems that were on the overhead. I was in the middle of taking notes when Noah shifted away from me. I can't believe him. I thought to myself, I looked at him. It looked like he was amused.
The rest of the period was like that: silent, awkward and ridiculous. When the bell rang I was relieved. I walked to my next class and Noah walked right beside me. 'Is he stalking me?' The sudden thought rushed through my head. I tried to act like I didn't notice him. I met Abby at my locker to put my book away and Noah just walked right passed me. I looked at Abby and she just smiled. The rest of the day went by quickly and soon it was lunch.
Abby and I walked over to our usual spot and sat at our table. Abby sat right next to me and someone sat in front of me but I didn't even bother to look up at who it was. I took out my lunch and looked over at Abby because she hadn't moved since we had sat down. Her mouth practically was on the floor, I looked at who was sitting across from me at the table and my jaw dropped. Noah sat there. No lunch, just his books. He rested his hands and his head on them and just looked up and stared at me. He kind of looked like a pouting dog. I opened my lunch bag and pulled out my food. I stared at him. I looked over at Abby. She looked at me then excused herself to go to the bathroom.
"So, are you going to say anything, or are you just going to stare and be rude?" He said nothing. I looked at him and he was focused on my bag of Fritos. I held the bag out to him. "Go ahead; I didn't poison them or anything." I looked down and opened my small bag of carrots and offered him some.
"Thank you." He smiled. We shared the rest of my lunch. When the lunch bell rang Abby came over and grabbed all of her stuff and then left for chemistry. He waited for me to put all my trash in the bag, and he walked with me to my next class. He smiled and then he walked off towards the P.E. Lockers.
I walked into my U.S. History class and took my seat in the front. Mr. Brady came over to me and sat next to me.
"Hey Beth." He smiled at me.
"Hey Mr. Brady. What's up?"
"Well I have a new student in an earlier period. And you know that internet assignment is due next week."
"Yes. I've already finished it."
"Yeah I guessed that much. You know, all we're going to do today in class is work on formatting the paper and since you’re already done, I was wondering if you would take Mr. Avery from my fourth period class to the library ..."
"Mr. Noah Avery?" He nodded. I smiled and grabbed my bag.
"Can I take that as a yes?" Mr. Brady smiled. I nodded. "Good. You can take your stuff and Mr. Avery should be here shortly and then you can take him to the library." Mr. Brady got up. "Thank you Beth. I owe you one." He smiled and then began his lecture. I stood up and walked to the back of the classroom. Noah was already sitting on a table in the back.
"Come on. I'm supposed to teach you how to do an internet assignment in a block period." I smiled.
"Lead the way." He jumped off the table and we walked to the library. I walked in the library and handed my I.D card to Ms. Landis, the librarian.
"Hello Beth. Are we going to use the computer today?"
"Yes. I also need a floppy disk." She smiled and handed me a floppy. Noah and I went over to a computer. We sat down and I began to explain to him how to do the assignment. He kept staring at me.
"Are you even listening?"
"Yeah. Everything you say." He smiled at me.
"Really prove it." I smiled back at him.
"All I have to do is do some heavy research on the U.S. Constitution and then type a two to five page report and then register myself at this website and turn it in, right?"
"Yeah pretty much. "I shrugged.
"Simple enough, I guess."
"So I guess you got this right. No questions right?"
"Umm, just one. Can I have your number?" I looked at him shocked. I felt all the blood rush to my face....
"Uhhhh...umm...I..." He cut me off seeing me freak out.
"Just if I did have any questions I could call you and you could help me out because you're already done, you know." I took a deep breath.
"Of course." I grabbed a pen and pointed to his hand. "Can I write it on your hand?" I said looking at him.
"As you wish." He said and smiled at me. I wrote my number on his hand. I could feel him staring at me the whole time and I felt all the blood start to rush to my face. I turned away and saved his file on the floppy disk. I turned back around and handed the floppy to him.
"Now don't loose that." I got up and grabbed my bag. Noah looked up at me. He stood up, staring at me the whole time.
"I won't." He whispered. I felt my face was on fire and I went over to the librarian and paid her for the floppy and grabbed my I.D. card. The bell went off. I looked back to wait for Noah, but he wasn't there anymore. I asked Ms. Landis where he went and she said she didn't know either. I shrugged and started to walk to my French class.
