Chapter 2 – A New Life

That’s when I realized I was still captured and my world came crashing back down to hell. How could I of been so foolish to of stood up to these so called soldiers, I knew I wasn’t the best fighter. But still I thought I could do at least some damage, all these guys still look like they haven’t been in a fight in a veeerrrry long time.

All I could do know was hope for the best and try not to get in more trouble, which would be hard because when I’m fired up words usually just spill out of my mouth.

When they finally brought me in to the safety of the castle from the gawking eyes of the villagers, I was now completely panicked. Still since I’m a proud person I tried to not let it show.

See in this kingdom the laws are strict and are in favor to the men, which leave us women in the dark to tend for ourselves, which I hate. So I’ve been one to stir up trouble, and get in, but not this much. And villagers, who see women being carried in, usually don’t see them come out unlike men who are just made in to soldiers.

Still being carried over the shoulder which I have to say hurts, I think my brains going to explode in any second and they won’t care. I could see now that they were leading me down a very long corridor (do you say corridor in those times I asked a friend and she said yes but it seems weird to me oh well). It was carpeted with a crimson carpet along the middle matching the outside of the castle. There were portraits of . . . my guess the royal family, the frames were made out of gold. The corridor itself was wade of stone and it was dimly lit with a few candles here and there.

Suddenly with out me realizing (She didn’t realize since her head was facing backwards not forwards) we reached a door. That’s when I knew I was in a lot of trouble.

"Now, now who have you brought to my castle" a big thundering voice came in.

"A peasant, she tried to assaul-" before one of the soldiers could continue on with this outrageous comment I butted in.

"YOU TRIED TO ASSUALT ME I JUST TRIED TO PRETECT MYSELF" not good I just shouted out to the soldiers in a room full of them probably.

"Put that peasant down, I need to see who dares talks back at the KING." not good I didn’t just make the soldiers angry I had to get my self in more trouble by making the king angry. Obligingly the soldier carrying me placed me down and turned to face the king.

What I saw was a tall burly man around 6 feet 2 with a golden bronze skin color. If I had to say I would guess the King was around mid 40’s. He was balding around the top middle of his head and most of his hair has turned to a grayish color. His eyes are a dark sinister color of blue looking straight at me. And his lips are set in a straight firm line almost if he was frowning at me.

Suddenly out of no where he starts laughing; his voice was like a booming sound echoing through out the walls. Quickly he looks at the soldiers who brought me in; he says still laughing "You say this tiny girl tried to assault you".

"TINY" I scream with all my might how dare he call me tiny I may be not as tall as other women in my village, but still. "I am not TINY and I am a WOMAN not some GIRL".

I could see the king was shocked and surprised to see anyone talk back to him, let alone a ‘tiny peasant girl’. Unfortunately the King was not known for his caring emotions, and soon as I finished saying girl he slapped me across the cheek.

"HOW DARE YOU TALK BACK TO ME? Don’t you know I am the king the mighty ruler over this land? I can do anything I want to you and no one will say a word. So I would be picking my words wisely from now on. Now with the matter of you, you are too much of a trouble maker to send you back to village. And you would be such a shame to kill (suddenly I saw something more than anger in his eyes it looked like lust and passion). I know I’ll make you a maid in my castle. Now Go"

And with that two other soldiers who were standing in the corner escorted (more like dragged) me to my new quarters which I would send my new life in. Also in this kingdom once the King orders something there is no saying no to it, whatever it is you must do no matter what. I probably wouldn’t see my father again unless I was lucky and allowed to visit him.

After quite a few twists in this labyrinth of corridors the guards finally arrived at my quarters. My quarter was probably at one of the bottom floors of the castle maybe the bottom floor. This is where al the servants of the castle live.

My quarters alone was nothing more than an old dusty bed, a creepy looking cabinet to put my stuff which I don’t have, a small table and stool, a few candles for light and a wooden box. The floors were wooden and were safe hazard you could actually see nails poking out and floor boards about to break. The walls were all bare and there was no window in sight. I missed my old life this life is going to be horrible I just know it.

Before I could get any more depressed another young lady stepped through the door, she is probably only a few years older. She was dressed in some kind of uniform, my guess the servants outfit. It was a crimson (did everything in this castle have to be crimson ugh) dress with beige outlines, it was short sleeved and stopped a bit above the knees. She was also wearing plain beige shoes; her hair is an auburn color and is tied back in a bun. Her eyes were a very pale blue. She is quite elegant with great curves and lines and looks at least a head or two taller than me. She like anyone who spends their whole life inside is pale, but not quite as me.

One quick look at me and she gave me this reassuring smile like everything was going to be happy, which for some reason made me smile back at her.

"Hello my name’s Charlotte and everything is going to be fine" and for some dumb reason I believed her for a moment.
