LCD Projector Accessories

Read on to know about the different LCD Projector accessories, and how are they used to enhance the performance...
In today's modern world of high technology and global business, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Projectors are used to project presentations to a number of people at the same time. The projectors are usually connected to a computer and the presentation plays on the computer. The projector then projects the presentation on a wall mounted screen display.

There are different kinds of projectors in use. They are:
  • Standard: These have one panel of glass which controls the three primary colors.
  • Polysilicon: These have 3 panels which control the colors that allow the projector to have a higher saturation of colors as compared to the Standard LCD projector.
  • DLP: DLP (Digital Light Processing) projectors have a single chip with about 400,000 micro mirrors which control and modulate the light from the projector's lamp and project it to the lens. This is also known as the DMD (Digital Mirror Device) technology. These are the projectors commonly available in the market nowadays.
LCD Projectors can also fall into 3 broad categories depending upon their size and weight. These are:
  • Ultralight: These projectors are lightweight and portable. They are the best choice for those who travel and conduct presentations frequently.
  • Conference Room: These projectors are specifically made for conference rooms. They are comparatively heavier.
  • Fixed Installation: These are the heaviest among all the projectors. They are permanently installed in large auditoriums or presentation halls.
Different LCD Projector Accessories

All the various LCD projectors come with a variety of accessories. These are:
  • Mounts: These are used to mount the projector in the conference rooms where the projector can thus be fixed to the ceiling or to a wall. These mounts can often have different security features which help prevent theft of the projector.
  • Cables: These are the various connecting wires which help connect the projector to computers and video sources. These are available in a variety of sizes to suit the dimensions of the room where the presentation has to take place.
  • Remotes: These are remote control units which help adjust the various aspects of the projector such as selecting the video source, running the presentation, adjusting the display level and so on.
  • Lenses: These help increase the functionality of the projector for better display of colors and pictures.
  • Lamps (Bulbs): These are the basic parts of an LCD projector. They are the source of light for the projection. However, they do have a life span and need replacing after a certain number of hours of usage.
  • Screens: These are where the display is actually seen. There are a variety of sizes, surfaces and mountings available in the market that caters to different room requirements. The surfaces are made out of different fabrics which give different results with regards to the image projected on to it. The mountings are made for portable screens, manual screens, electric screens and fixed frame screens.
  • Cases: These are used to store the projector unit and its accessories when it is not in use. There are cases which can also be used to ferry the projector along when one is traveling. These travel cases often have wheels and handles for easy mobility.
Different types of LCD Projectors will need different types of accessories depending upon the kind of usage one has. Most dealers will offer to provide these accessories along with the projector.

Therefore while one is deciding which LCD projector to choose, it makes sense to consider the following:
  • The end user - The experience of the person who will eventually be handling the projector is important. So there is no point in getting a very complicated projector when one is not very conversant with the use of the machine.
  • Brightness of the projector - This is explained while buying the projector. The lighter the projector, often the brightness is lower. With low brightness projectors, it becomes essential to dim the lights in the room during the presentation.
  • Quality of the image from the processor - This is obviously self-explanatory. Different projectors have different image quality. One should choose the projector which suits one's needs the best.
  • Portability - This is an important factor to consider, especially for those who travel constantly and give presentations all the time.
  • After Sales Services - Most dealers should have a larger network, especially when you are the types who is always on the move. You should be able to get repairs and replacements wherever you are.
  • Comparison - Comparing one projector with another always helps one decide, because then one is looking for certain features.
In conclusion, it is best to identify one's needs and usage first before they go out to purchase an LCD Projector and its various accessories.
