Las Vegas Icon Danny Gans Dead at 52
Danny Gans, famous impressionist and comedian who has been a mainstay on the Vegas strip for over a decade, died in his sleep last night at home in Henderson, Nevada.
At this point, there are very few details available in the shocking death of popular entertainer and comedian, Danny Gans. Gans has been one of the most popular and consistently successful acts on the Las Vegas Strip for over ten years and his death seems to have come as a total shock to everyone who knew him.
"The loss of Danny to his wife Julie, his children, Amy, Andrew and Emily is at this moment impossible to comprehend," Steve Wynn said in a statement. Wynn is the chief executive of Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas.
Gans was apparently found dead in his sleep at home by his wife at approximately 3AM this morning. Several marquees along the Vegas Strip had pictures of Gans and words of remembrance and sorrow throughout today.
Gans had just moved his act from the Mirage to the Encore Theatre, which sits along the Vegas Strip. His manager, Chip Lightman, issued a statement saying, "Danny has been my partner and dear friend for over 18 years. I will truly miss him."
Those who saw Gans perform over the last 10 years will be especially saddened to hear of his passing, as his shows were generally very well received and he was one of the more critically-acclaimed acts in Vegas.
