LAPD Aggressively Investigating Leak of Rihanna Beating Photo
It appears that the picture circulating of a battered Rihanna is genuine and the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating how the photo was leaked.
The photo that has been all over the Internet of what appears to be Rihanna's beaten face was leaked from the LAPD - and they are not happy about it. The police have identified the computer from which the image was generated, but they have not yet identified the individual or individuals who are responsible for creating and distributing the image.
Rumors are swirling that Los Angeles prosecutors are taking their time in an attempt to build a felony case against Chris Brown. The picture would seem to be compelling evidence for such a case. In the photo, Rihanna's face was clearly injured, with obvious bruising and swelling around her head and eyes.
Following the incident, Chris Brown returned to his home in Virginia and is believed to be spending time there with his family. Rihanna also retreated to Barbados to spend time with her family, but she is now believed to be back in the United States.
Both camps are laying low for the moment and there have been no statements released recently from either star. The upcoming trial and the theatrics that surround it will certainly be something to watch. Depending on the charges and how vigorously Chris Brown's legal team attempts to defend him, the entire proceeding could get exceedingly ugly and will likely be gossip fodder of the highest order for weeks, possibly longer.
