Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey have felt the need to dismiss rumors that they are gay and have defended their friendship.

Armstrong and McConaughey addressed the rumors surrounding their relationship in an article for Details magazine. McConaughey jokingly said, "We tried it. Wasn’t for us." Armstrong added, "It’s like, either you sleep with anything that moves or you’re gay." The new twosome along with their friend Jake Gyllenhaal have come under scrutiny for their new friendship that has blossomed. The threesome can often be seen jogging or riding bikes together sans shirts.
McConaughey and Armstrong maintain that their friendship sort of came together because they both found themselves single at the same time. McConaughey and his ladylove Penelope Cruz had called it quits and Armstrong and his fiancée Sheryl Crow had just ended their engagement. The two have known each other for eight years and due to their recent single status found that they had more time to hang out together. Armstrong said, "I think people see pictures and they think we’re these overgrown frat guys, but we all have those kinds of relationships – and relationship isn’t a bad word. I mean, we all have buds, we all take guy trips, but you take something very normal and you put it in a magazine, and people start talking."
Armstrong continues, "Our friendship just kind of developed. He got out of a relationship; I’d just gotten out of a relationship." McConaughey, who Armstrong has dubbed the Redneck Buddah, said, "I’d do anything he asked me to, even though he’d probably never ask me to, and he feels the same way. It’s fun going out and living life and doing things at the drop of a hat. Livestrong just happens to be the most deliberate guy I’ve ever met." McConaughey is set to appear begin filming on the new flick Fool’s Gold where he will reunite with his How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days co-star Kate Hudson. Armstrong will reportedly appear as himself in a big screen version of his autobiography It’s Not All About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life, set to hit theaters next year. In the meantime, McConaughey and Armstrong can certainly spend more time getting their pictures taken without their shirts on…we won’t mind…
