Lake Louise - One of Banff National Park's Great Destinations

Lake Louise Mountain Resort is a beautiful and wondrous ski resort. It is situated in Alberta Canada and inside the boundaries of Banff National Park. Lake Louise also refers to a the village which is adjacent to the surreal Lake. Lake Louise is roughly an hour away from the town of Banff. It is fifty-seven kilometers (thirty five miles) west of Banff along Highway 1 (Trans-Canada Highway).
The Lake Louise resort is located adjacent and along the southern side of the Merlin Ridge in the Slate Range. The resort is between Mount Richardson, Ptarmigan Peak, Pika Peak and Redoubt Mountain. These mountains all are estimated to be around three-thousand meters (ten-thousand feet) high. The base of the mountain slopes border is outlined by Pipestone River, a contributor of the Bow River. The Bow River is located adjacent and immediately north of the intersections between Highway 1A (The Bow Valley Trail) and Highway 1 (The Trans-Canada Highway), and Highway 93 (The Icefield Parkway).
There are one-hundred and thirty-nine marked ski runs which are spread over four mountain faces. About twenty-five percent of them are for beginners. Forty-five percent are roughly classified for intermediates. Thirty percent or them are recommended for advanced skiers. The Telus terrain park was also created for skiers and riders of all levels. In Lake Louise, there are four full service day lodges which are operational during the winter months.
Other great and fun activities available in the Lake Louise resort area and nearby areas include heli-skiing, dog sledding, ice skating, and cross-country skiing.
