Kylie's Way
A shock.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Kylie sat up in bed. She looked around her dark room till her eyes rested on the Purple Heart clock sitting on the dresser, she pushed the button and in a loud clear voice the clock said 1 am and lit up the time.
"Who's knocking on the door at this late hour?" Kylie asked out loud turning on the light. She slipped on her lavender robe and slippers and walked across the plush violet carpet to the plum purple door. She opened the door and stepped out onto the red carpet that roamed the halls of the house her mom stepped out of the differently shaded blue room and turned to her daughter.
"What's going on mom?" Kylie asked her mother as they both started for the stairs.
"I dunno Kylie, let's go see." Her mother said.
"Ok, just let me turn the lights out in my room." Kylie said turning toward her room once more.
"Meet you downstairs." Her mother shouted half way down them.
"You bet," was Kylie's muffled answer for she was in her room. She grabbed her phone and sent an urgent text to her best friend and secret love of her life:
Come quick!
Police at the house!
Might have something to do with dad!
Help!
She grabbed her pepper spray and bounded down the stairs just in time to see her mother usher two policemen into the house.
"Kylie this is officers' Williams and Taylor, they're here for your father -"
"I'll go get him." Kylie said.
"That won't -" Officer Williams started but she had already disappeared into the hallway.
As Kylie walk-ran to the guest house she felt hands grab her waist and mouth before she could scream.
