Knight's Of Rose - Prolouge & Chapter 1
Hey guys this is what I have been working on. It's not much but it something. I am going to stop working on "Sweet Whispers" until I can decide where I want it to go. My goal is for you to enjoy what you read and I hope I can make that happen. I hope you enjoy my new story. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!
Prologue
I woke up to a very loud banging sound. I lay in bed and listened hopefully it was just the knights downstairs having a good time again. I listened harder; the banging stopped, loud screams filled the castle walls. I bolted out of bed. I cracked the door to my chambers and listened. The sounds of sword fight reached my ears. I could hear someone in heavy armor making their way up the stairs. Panic sank in, I froze. One of my Uncles Knights, injured, had made his way up the stairs. He looked at me and whispered "run".
Chapter 1
The next thing I knew I was shutting and looking my door. I put my slippers on and made my way through the secret passage way that went to the horse stalls from my room. I pulled myself on top of our fastest horse Lightning; fitting name if you ask me. He was all black and very tall. I had no time for a settle. I grabbed a handful of mane and gave him a kick. Then we were off.
We hit the forest at a dead run. It was winter and there was snow covering the ground. At least in the forest I would be harder to track. After I could no longer hear fighting I slowed Lightning down to a halt and listened.
I could hear other horses several were coming. I gave him a kick and we were off again. As the sun rose realization hit me. "we've been attacked... but why?" I whispered in my confusion. I clung to Lightning not only for riding or warmth, but because having my horse gave me comfort.
We heard them again. I say "we" because his ears alerted me. We started running again. We weaved this way and that way avoiding trees as we came at them. We were coming to a clearing so I turned Lightning abruptly. We didn't need to be out in the open. As we turned something knocked me off my horse, then everything was black.
I woke and I was in the woods. There was snow all over the ground. It was so cold but something was telling me I couldn't stay there. I had to get up, I had to get moving. I got up slowly and started walking. Not long after that I started to remember why I was in the woods.
I was so scared. I started run the thin cotton white nightgown I wore didn't help to fend off the cold. The thin slippers I wore on my feet might as well have not been there, bit I didn't dare stop. What if I were discovered... no I had to keep going.
I kept moving. Night turned into day, then night again. I could barley stay up right. I was so tired and I shivered uncontrollably. Finally my body gave out. I pushed myself up against a tree and pulled my legs up against my chest. That's when unconsciousness claimed me.
