Kiriel 4

The whole room gasped as we entered the room arm in arm walking to the middle of the room where we would begin the dance.

As we took up their positions on the dance floor music started to reverberate around the room from an invisible band. With the music started we started the dance and I tried not to look at Nyx and keeping my eyes on chaos and plastering a fake smile on my face.

"Nyx is here tonight."

"So?"

"Have you seen him?"

"No I’m too busy keeping my eyes on my husband." I said as a joke and he smiled

"Good girl." His hand snaked around my waist for the next move and I felt revulsion move through my body. He was treating me like a dog. He interpreted my shiver as one of arousment and raised an eyebrow at me.

"Shall we have some fun tonight?" he whispered in my ear with the next dip and my body trembled slightly. "We’ll do it in your room." Whispered again running one hand over my breast when our bodies shielded it. "I have only to get rid of Nyx and then everything will be perfect."

My body reacted strongly to this pushing him away I even found myself shouting.

"No!"

"What are you doing?!" he seethed through his teeth. "Get over here."

"No." I said softly. The people disappeared suddenly and I realized that they weren’t real.

"You know what happens when you get like this." He said raising a hand, he hadn’t done this for a while but I knew what was about to happen. A bolt of pain came towards me but I threw up my hands and deflected it sending it back to him. He defused it keeping his expression cold.

"Don’t do this."

"Do what? Huh, do something of my own free will," my voice raised in level and I found I was yelling. "I would never have married you, never, I would have died first." I threw the two rings on the floor at his feet.

"You should be grateful I cared for you." He yelled back.

"You tortured me." I threw every last bit of power I had at him in anger and he fell to his knees bleeding from his eyes. He got up and I saw Nyx behind him. He raised both hands but so absorbed was he in killing me he didn’t even feel Nyx rip his throat out.

Blood splattered the floor at my feet and he fell to the ground with a splat, blood still pouring out his neck. The usage of so much power caught up with me and I fainted into Nix’s blood covered arms.

I sat up in bed, this wasn’t my bed, it had red sheets not black. Where was I? I looked around to see a stone room but when I looked out of the window I saw not green hills but a lake, a blue lake. I jumped out of bed and ran through a door to a corridor. There was a woman walking up it, she looked familiar.

"Rachel?" she looked up and stopped in her tracks staring at me.

"Kiriel!" she launched herself at me and we stood there for long moments in each others arms.

"How are you?"

"Complete shit, I’m in pieces"

"Why? Where did you go?"

I didn’t answer her cause behind her I saw Nyx. She looked from me to him and smiled telling me we would catch up soon.

"Is that your room?" he nodded. "Do you want to come in." he smiled at the irony of it and nodded again following me back into his room.

"How are you feeling?"

"Drained." I looked in the mirror to see I was so pale the light reflected off my skin.
"You’ve grown up."

"Really, do you think so?" I asked looking back into the mirror. He turned me around to face him.

"Not in your looks."

"What do you mean?" he held my eyes for a few moments and I looked deep into his blue ones. Even without the added ability to look into people’s minds I could tell he was worried about me.

"What are you worried about?"

He looked slightly incredulous for a second before answering. "Chaos…"

"He’s dead."

"I know."

"You ripped his throat out."

"Do you think I should have?"

"He was going to kill me."

Nyx looked at me again probably trying to guess my thoughts.

"But what about all the things he did to you?"

I frowned and took a deep breath. "You know how I said that he made me say yes." He nodded. "Well when you make someone do something in that way you sort of disconnect them from their mind.

"So you don’t remember what happened?"

"No, I remember that all to well, but it was like I was only watching."

"So what where were you when he did that."

"Well, usually I was curled up in the corner of my mind trying to get out of it."

"You tried to get out of your mind."

"Many times."

"What stopped you?"

"Him. He created a barrier that stopped me going insane."

"So if he hadn’t?"

She smiled "I would be totally senile."

"So in a way he saved you."

"Seriously, I would have rather gone insane."

"Hmmm…" he put one arm around my waist and led me over to the other door. I was conscious that my whole body was tense but just when I had managed to work out the tension when Nyx’s fingers rubbed my hip and the whole process started again.

Then we were out on the balcony where we had been last time. I looked around and saw there was a hole in the masonry where it looked like someone had put their fist.

"Was that you?" I said putting my hand in the hole.

"Yeah, I got a bit frustrated." I laughed and looked around with a huge smile on my face.

"God I love this place." I breathed in the damp air from the lake and sighed as a breeze blew warm air my way.

"How long was I unconscious?"

He stood behind me and put both arms around my waist.

"Too long." He whispered in my ear.

I turned around and put my arms around his neck.

"Well, it could have been longer."

I kissed him gently opening my mouth and running my tongue over his he did the same and I smiled; he was so warm and right. He pulled away for a second.

"It’s so nice not having you teleport halfway through a kiss."

"Well don’t get used to it." I replied

"No? Personally this is something I could very well get used to and I don’t plan on letting you go."

"Where would I go?" I asked but I got no answer, he had started kissing me again.
