Kiriel 2

I woke up the next day in my bed feeling strangely energized, I got up and after stretching had breakfast eating twice as much as I usually did.

"Feeling hungry?" asked Rachel who I shared the bed with.

"Yeah, I had two of them feed off me last night." I said and she nodded in sympathy.

"Listen if you’re up to it I’ve got duty in the throne room today, we could work together."

"Sounds good." I agreed knowing that she would have a hard time trying to find another partner that was combat trained.

"So who was the other vampire?" she asked knowing that Cain didn’t like to share me around.

"Nyx."

"Oh, isn’t he such a charmer." She said.

"Oh yeah, I’ve never really met him before."

"Well the first time I met him I though he would coerce my blood right out of me"

"I know what you mean." I said finishing my food.

We walked to the throne room together and took up our positions leaning against the walls. Cain was sitting where he usually did up on the dais and Nyx was behind him talking with him about the case Cain was judging.

The vampire in front of the dais was looking at me hungrily and I wasn’t surprised when he jumped at me. Next moment I had thrown a few punches and he was groaning on the floor. I went back to leaning on the wall and the two guards dragged him back in front of the dais.

Cain had decided on his punishment and stood up.

"I find Seth more commonly known as the snake guilty of two accounts of murder and one of rape and sentence him to a life sentence of blood lust."

Seth screamed as he was dragged off swearing at everybody in the room; blood lust was the worst punishment given. The victim was given enough blood just to keep him alive and through the cell doors of the prison where they were kept there were warm buckets of blood that gave off a tantalizing smell to the imprisoned driving them mad.

The guards relaxed and one leaned against the wall beside me.

"Nice piece of self defence there." He said "Thanks."

Suddenly I felt as if someone was pulling me in several directions, I closed my eyes and screamed for the pain of it but then suddenly it stopped and I felt cool silver on my wrists and freezing stone at my back. I opened my eyes to see a dark dungeon; I was chained to the wall and through a clear glass wall I could see a man in black robes. His side of the room was separated into two parts by more glass and in the opposite side there was Cain and Nyx. The man was talking to both of them and suddenly Cain launched himself at the glass. The man laughed and the next moment was in front of me.

"Kiriel, a pleasure." He said in a seductive voice and I realized who it was and felt afraid.

"Chaos?" I asked in a small voice.

"That’s right," he said coming closer. "Are you afraid of me?"

"Slightly." A sudden manic plan came into my mind and I smiled at him. "But now I see you I don’t think you’re that bad."

"Really?" he asked looking slightly shocked

"Yeah, I mean you’re dangerous but I expected you to be more unattractive." I said tactfully and meaning it as well as he was the most attractive man I’ve ever met. If he wasn’t so shocked he might have seen through my façade but I was so innocently faced it was hard to tell. Then he looked into my mind and I knew I was screwed.

"Your just screwing with me." He said with a smile, it seemed to amuse him. Two of his fingers traced one of my cheekbones and I frowned for a second. His fingers continued through my hair and around the back of my head. He pulled it forward and kissed me softly, surprisingly it was gentle like he actually cared about me. I felt a surge of anger like I had never experienced before at this man who thought he could just kiss whoever he liked. Suddenly my cuffs glowed white hot and Chaos stepped back.

"What was that?"

"I don’t know." I looked at the cuffs and then back at him.

"Don’t lie to me, you have power."

"I don’t know I haven’t come of age yet." I said.

"You’re under sixteen? I find that hard to believe." He said

"So look inside my mind." I looked into his eyes defiantly and he smiled.

"Would you like to be my apprentice?" he asked and I sensed that this was a spur of the moment thing.

"I don’t really have a choice do I?"

"Well if you say no ill just kill these two." He gestured at Cain and Nyx and they both fell to their knees in pain.

Just to torture me he transmitted their pain to me. I struggled against the restraints screaming and suddenly my cuffs not only glowed white hot but exploded. I found myself going to kick Chaos and he doubled the pain making me writhe around on the floor, I screamed even louder but suddenly the pain stopped. I collapsed on the stone and he knelt down beside me putting his hand on my abdomen.

"Don’t try and hurt me again or ill have to do that." He said stroking my hair. I nodded getting my breathing under control.

"You have two days, then your training begins." He kissed me quickly and I recoiled but then I was back in the throne room.

I ran to the dais to see that both Cain and Nyx were down.

"Give him half of what you have." I shouted to Rachel who was already leaning over Nyx. I lifted Cains head to my neck and he bit hard drinking down my blood as fast as he could. He got half way there when me and Rachel swapped.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw her give Cain her neck and I gave Nyx mine.

He put both arms around me and crushed me against him as he managed to drink down nearly all of my life giving blood. I was pulled away from him with difficulty as more girls came to give blood.

Nyx remembered being transported but the pounding that filled his head blocked out all the sound and picture from his brain. Then he smelt someone’s neck above his and sank his teeth into it drinking down the coppery blood that flowed through his mouth. She pulled away and he now had burred vision of Kiriel. Longing for her exquisite blood he pulled her into him and tasted complete heaven. He didn’t want to give her back and knew he would have killed her if several guards hadn’t of pulled her out of his arms and given him another.

Unnoticed by anyone in the confusion he kept hold of one of her arms before they took her away.
