Kids?
What's the harm to admit that as adults there are so many times we err. Calling our babies 'kids'! Come on! Then don't teach them 'young-ones' in kinder-garden. Or do we admit to the flock-genre...
You should'nt do this or that
You should'nt go either here or there
And please don't waste time on chat.
Instructions, experience and lessons galore
I am designed to give
You are expected to learn and learn
There's plenty of time to live.
I'm older, you dare not talk back I say
I'm an adult and I can advice
You are 'a little nothing' yet, you see
School and play for now suffice.
But, tell me, kiddo, what eagers you
When the rain is about to fall
You know I've seen many seasons
Not nearly every bird's call.
There is no time you see
To take a break, part of maturity you know
But why I call you a kid, my love
I dont think I really know.
I learnt it referred to a young goat
Come, come, I'm sure there's more to that
I'll think a while and rack my brains
Wonder who first tipped the hat?
But I must admit, I just toed the line
There was'nt intent to change my kind
Nor laurels to call my baby so
I hope, my love, you don't mind.
Now, now, who's teaching who
I know, but will not admit
I tell you out of habit and pride
Do your home-work and DOWN YOU SIT!
