Kidnap My Heart - Chapter Twenty Two
Waking up without knowing about the night before... Thanks for you comments :) I really appreciate them I was thinking of adding a picture of Avery and Ivy but it doesn't seem to work out for me... Let your imagination take over and you decide how they should look :)
When Ivy woke up she had a pounding headache. She didn’t remember the night before. The last thing she remembered was entering Silvers Bar and talking to Teddy. Then the night was a blur. She sat up and looked around the room. It was a familiar room but she couldn’t put her finger on it. She saw Avery slumped on his computer chair fast asleep. She groaned as a sharp pain spread throughout her head. Her lips tingled as she tapped them and looked over the mirror on her side. She looked as if she had run through a jungle. Her eyes were harshly tired looking and her lips were swollen as if she had been kissed too furiously. Not that she had been kissed in a while. Maybe it had to do with the hangover. She saw Avery stir and he opened his eyes suddenly. His eyes were a dull brown and as he yawned, they sparkled with gold. He looked at her with a smile and stood up. She watched as he stretched and she only noticed how tall he was. He was probably nearing six foot four. Tall, dark, handsome. This man was incredible. "Why am I here?" Ivy said with a groan. Avery chuckled and looked down at her. "You had a fun night out and I swooped in to pull you out of the ditch you dug for yourself. In other words, last night you were drunk.
Easy as that." Avery said kindly. Ivy rolled her eyes and flopped back. "No wonder I feel really crappy. And why am I here? You didn’t specify that." Ivy said as she looked up at the ceiling. "I didn’t feel like bringing you home since it was really late. You’re interesting when you’re drunk. I’m used to you being so stoic and serious. It was nice seeing you lay back and ditzy. Plus you mumbled more than one stupid things and it was pretty funny." He said with a grin. Ivy blushed and sat up to face him. "Well I barely get drunk. Ask Crystal." Ivy said quietly. Avery chuckled and stretched with a yawn. He held his hand out to Ivy and smiled. "A thanks Avery would do. Let’s get some breakfast shall we?" Avery said with a small bow. Ivy hesitated to take his hand but did so anyway. Warmth flooded her being and she couldn’t help but smile shyly. Avery guided her down the stairs and into the living room which only contained Derek. Derek smiled knowingly as he saw the duo walk into the kitchen.
Avery pulled out a chair for Ivy and she blushed as she took it. The brothers had then made her breakfast, which had actually been a ritual for them. Ivy looked around the cozy kitchen and looked at the family pictures on the wall. There was one of the three siblings. Ivy had pondered silently about where Suzette had gone. Suzette was the middle child and the only girl, to Mrs. Warren’s inconvenience. She had the same dazzling brown eyes as Avery and she was amazingly pretty. At the moment she was nearing 22 and at the prime of her youth. She was practically Ivy’s sister and luckily she had chewed Avery out when they had broken up. Suzette had blamed everything on Avery and insisted that Avery had screwed up entirely. "So you guys, what’s Suzy up to these days?" Ivy said as she rubbed her head. Derek smiled up at her and rolled his eyes. "College. I think she’s dating that guy Greg or Mark. I never could keep up with her latest flings. She’s studying to be a nurse.
You know one of those nurses for newborn babies." Derek said with a confident smile. Ivy smiled. It perfect for her lifestyle and personality. "That’s nice." Ivy said as Derek placed a plate in front of her. Ivy eyed the plate wearily. "I think this is too much." She said as she poked at her food with her fork. The brothers crossed their arms in front of themselves and frowned. "Is that a nicer way for you to say you don’t want to eat the food we cooked for you? I make no promises that we did something to it." Avery said with a smile. Ivy blushed again and shook her head. "No, it really isn’t that. It’s just that I can’t eat this much." Ivy said as she looked at her plate. The brothers groaned and took her plate from her. They took away the mountains they had placed on her plate in the first place. They all ate together and silence was a big factor. Ivy looked at the clock on the wall. Her flight was at 2 and it was now 10. She ate quickly and fussed about the time. When they had finished all together, Ivy had asked Avery to take her to her car. He had agreed and disappeared to his room.
Ivy stayed in the living room with Derek and watched TV. She cuddled next him and he wrapped his arm around her. "You’re not telling him you’re leaving today huh?" Derek whispered. Ivy tensed up and felt as if she was going to cry. "How did you know?" she said as she looked up at him. Derek smiled faintly and pulled her into a tight hug. "You told my parents you were leaving in two days but I know you better than that. You’re leaving today since you can’t take this anymore. I understand. Just promise me something? Be careful out there. It’s a tough world babe." He said as he kissed her head lightly. Ivy curled up closer to him and felt content. It felt nice to have someone to rely on. She was too ungrateful. She didn’t deserve people like Derek who wasted their time to care about her. "Thanks Derek. I promise I will. But you have something to promise me too." Ivy said as she latched onto him. Derek looked down at her and smiled. "What? Do you wanna use me to make an ex-boyfriend jealous? If that’s it I’m so there." Derek said with a grin. Ivy punched him in the stomach and rolled her eyes. "No but good try. I need you to not mention it to Avery.
He’ll find out but I don’t want him to find out before I leave here." Ivy said softly. She heard Avery shut the door to his room and she looked up at Derek pleadingly. He looked down at her and smiled. "I promise." He whispered just as Avery approached. "Ready Ivy?" he said as he laced his gym shoes. Ivy stood up and hugged the young man next to her. "Bye Derek." She whispered as she pulled away from him. Her eyes watered and she felt small tears threaten to spill out. "Bye Ives. Take care of yourself." He said as he watched her walk away. Avery and she walked outside and to his car. She looked back at the house and felt a sinking feeling inside. She entered the car and didn’t bother to look at the house again.
