Kidnap My Heart - Chapter Twenty Nine
How will Avery react to seeing Ivy again for the first time in a month? Thanks for all the comments I didn't think people liked it that much :)
No way, Avery thought with a grudging frown. That was her. That was the woman who had him wrapped around her finger. She had been the star of most of his dreams and nightmares. And she was with that playboy. What the hell was happening here? Did she really get back together with him? For one month, Avery had been fussing and planning how to win her back to only be bumped back to square one. What was he going to do? He watched as they walked away quickly down the sidewalk and he eyed their intertwined hands. She was so frail looking and he felt as if she had lost weight. When he had caught her, her body was shaking. She didn’t even look up at him. As they disappeared from his sight, he jumped into his car and took out his phone. He called Crystal immediately and waited for her to answer. "Hello?" he heard over the phone. "Tell me she isn’t really with him." Avery pleaded into the phone. "Avery? What are you talking about?" Avery groaned and slapped his forehead. "Ivy and that guy!!" Avery shouted into the phone.
His head was pounding and didn’t care if he sounded desperate. He was done with all of it. It needed to be figured out. "No, they aren’t. Why? What’s wrong Avery?" he barely heard over the phone. "She literally ran into me in town and I caught her. She acted like she didn’t know me and that Ryan guy came up and was like ‘Oh my girlfriends a klutz I’m sorry.’ It pissed the hell outta me and now that I know it isn’t true I feel like punching a wall." He said gravely. Crystal gasped and he heard a voice pipe in. "Sounds like you finally realized you need her in your life Avery." Chris said. Avery grinned and finally took note of what was happening. "You two together now? How could you not tell me?" Avery said with a sigh. Crystal giggled and Avery heard an audible kiss through the phone. "It was a surprise." He heard Chris say in a muffled voice. "Great, yet another mushy couple." He said with disdain. "Don’t worry Avery. After tomorrow we will be the ones complaining about mushy couples. Plus, we haven’t seen each other in a month. Give us a break." Crystal said happily over the phone. "You haven’t seen me in a month either. Is that the same way you’re gonna treat me when you see me?" Avery chuckled. "Nice try man, but no. She’s mine." Chris said in the most possessive way possible. Avery laughed and hung up. He dropped the phone onto the chair beside him and he drove away with a mind full of thoughts.
Ivy and Ryan got back from their walk and felt more tired. Ivy ran up to her room as she entered the house and felt a sense of awareness creep up in her mind. She wanted to stop running. She didn’t want this to keep going. It was too tiring and she just wanted that happy ending. No more tears needed to be shed. She needed to drop her stubborn ways. Even if it was a challenge she was more determined. "IVY KAPLAN!!" she heard from downstairs. She turned back and ran down the stairs to see a blazingly angry blonde. "Care to explain your little date in town?" Crystal seethed. Ivy cringed and watched as the petite blonde crossed her arms. The air between them had become hostile and Ivy felt as if she was shrinking in front of the smaller woman. "I just wanted to show Ryan around." Ivy whispered as she looked down at the floor. Crystal huffed impatiently and tapped the top of her heel on the floor. "Yeah I know that part, but why did you have to hurt Avery!? The poor guy is in love with you and you-you act like a selfish bitch and walk right over him.
I know he hurt you in the past, but you’re hurting him more than he deserves you." Crystal fumed. Ivy shivered and felt like she was getting stabbed multiple times in the heart. Everything Crystal had said was true. It had finally hit her. After so long. "I know. I’ll fix it tomorrow. That was the whole purpose of coming here." Ivy whispered. "Good. About time you stopped running away." Crystal said as she walked out of the room. Ivy groaned and fell onto the couch. "She’s right you know." Ivy heard a voice say behind her. She sat up and looked at her tired mom. "Yeah I know. I wish it would be easier and less tiring though." Ivy said as she plopped back onto the couch again. "What are you going to do now?" April asked with genuine concern. "I don’t know. I guess I’m going to wing it. I work better under pressure." Ivy said as she turned on the TV. She slouched back onto her seat and felt her body loosen. Her mom walked off with a dramatic sigh and Ivy rolled her eyes, wishing everything was in place.
