Kidnap My Heart - Chapter Thirty One

Another hurdle jumped.. Is it finally the last one? Thanks for your comments :) This is officially the last chapter of my first story except the epilogue... Thanks for sticking with me
Everywhere was covered with flowers. Pink, purple and blue flowers covered the tables and altar. They had decided to take their wedding out into the scenic views of the beach. They had built platforms as a solid ground and practically covered the widespread beach. Ivy was grateful for the cement platforms since she wasn't too comfortable walking in the sand with heels. She sat in an open chair 2 hours before the wedding and watched as everyone fussed uncontrollably. She looked at the front of the mini chapel and smiled faintly. A wedding wasn't exactly where she thought she would see Avery again formally but she decided to take it. Today was a day full of happy people and she decided she would have to act as such. She felt like a total downer. She watched as people went by to fuss about mini details. Somehow, her mind wandered to her dream wedding. Everything that she wanted was taking place in Julia's wedding. She wanted that beach wedding and those flowers. Hell, even the dress she was wearing at this moment was somewhat what she wanted her bridesmaids to wear. Maybe she was over thinking it but it was what she wanted. All she needed to make that wedding happen, was the groom. He didn't exist yet. Not even one bit.

She looked up at the blue sky. Miles away, the dark clouds invaded the next town. Ivy hoped the rain wouldn't have taken the wedding indoors. What better way to begin the deep relationship of their marriage than rain falling on their parade? Ivy grinned and shook her head as she laughed at the thought. "You know, laughing to yourself is a sign of insanity?" she heard a voice rumble behind her. She smirked knowingly. "Maybe you should wipe that smile off your face, darling. I can hear it in your voice." She said to the awaiting person behind her. She gazed up to their face and felt her heart skip a beat. "But you told me once you loved my smile. Tell me more lies why won't you dear?" he said gravely. She stood up and frowned deeply. "Please. You were the one who said you loved me first and then you skipped out on me. And you call me the liar." Ivy snorted. "Well I thought things were working out for us last time you were here but you skipped out in me. If that was your way of vengeance, I already used that. You just keep using the same tricks on me. I didn't do anything else so you can't either." Avery said with a cold tone. Ivy raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms in front of her.

She heard footsteps behind her and turned to see Ryan with a blanched face. "Sorry. I, uh never, um mind. See you later." Ryan said as if he was a deer in headlights. He turned on his toes and scurried off. Ivy groaned and slapped her forehead. Aver watched as Ryan walked off tensely and looked back to Ivy. "He is quite the charmer. Say, what do you see in him? Just another plaything for your entertainment? I sure know how that feels." He grumbled. Ivy stepped back in shock. "What do you mean?" she asked. He stepped toward her and glared unconsciously. "I thought things were working out for us, but it turns out you and Ryan still have a thing going on. Do you ever stop and think about everything past this chase? How about more directly on how I feel?" Avery said as he shoved his hands in his pockets. Ivy snorted and turned on her heel. She walked away from him slowly and looked up at the suddenly dark sky. Avery walked to keep in step with her and she pulled her heels off. She walked on the shoreline without speaking to him. She stopped as they were well away from the wedding area and frowned at him, turning her body toward him fully. "Why do you care what goes on between Ryan and I? Last I checked you were more than happy to let me out of your life! Why change it after 10 years? Why now you dumb, ignorant, jackass?!?" She screamed as she pushed him off balance.

Avery staggered backward onto the sand and stared at her with shock. She needed this closure. Ivy's body shook form her anger and she felt a weight be lifted from her soul. She felt the wet sand under her feet and tried to focus on the situation unfolding. She was being a total crazy bitch but she needed to let this out. Holding it in any longer would have been drastic to her. Avery sat in the sand and looked down at his shoes. "Me?! What about you and being on that high horse you seem to think you're always on? It's always been about my faults but you have part the blame. A relationship is made between two people making mistakes. Not just one. So try to tell me about your part of the story. You know the one where you're always the good girl? Because I have a different more realistic version of it. I know I broke your heart and I regret it more than you know, but don't you think we should just give it up already and realize what we both want?" Avery fumed as he looked up at her. Ivy grunted and played with the frills on her dress. "This is so like you! Being a stubborn, ignorant guy!! Can't you wake up and act like it wasn't just about you!!" Ivy said icily. Avery sighed and shook his head. He was mentally and physically tired of it.

Ivy shook her head and shifted her weight. "I know I've made mistakes, but I need you to understand my point of view. My adult life has been focused on you and how bad you hurt me. Did you actually love me back then like you said you did? Don't you think I have a reason to be this mad? You decide to barge into my life again and pretend nothing went wrong??? Give me a reason why I can't be able to think the way I want to and believe what I want to believe." Ivy shouted again, flailing her arms about and losing her sanity. Avery stood up and looked into her eyes strongly. She had no idea how he felt. He tried to find the perfect words beside his own thoughts but went with his thoughts anyway. It was now or never.

"Because. It's because... I love you Ivy. I always have, It's just that I was stupid enough to let you go. I'm tired of just running away from all of it. I know it took me 10 years but I just needed to see what would happen. I can't stop thinking about you. When I saw you again at your mom's house, I felt horrible. 10 years can do a lot to someone, so I kept thinking everything through and every little detail of us. So tell me now if you don't love me back I don't think I'd be able to take it later. Tell me if you aren't willing to forgive and forget the past." Avery whispered. Ivy had barely heard it since the waves behind her were crashing and the gulls were squawking loudly. She felt her body become numb and she bit her lip roughly to pull herself out of a daze. He loved her. She tried to believe it was real, but she was too insecure. She knew she was still at the tip of the edge deciding if she loved him or not but she was willing to stick around and wait. She needed to be around him. His existence was always on her mind.

God, why was she so stubborn?? Here was Avery, in all his pride and glory, announcing his love for her and she was acting like a selfish bitch again. Their heated discussion caused her to realize it wasn't always supposed to be that way. They could talk like normal adults. She knew she couldn't run from it anymore. He was right. Running away was always their actions to things that involved happiness. Even if she wanted commitment, she was the one ruining her chances of it. Who cared if they were scared? It was time to run at full speed toward their fears and be full of adventure. Being scared for tomorrow was overrated when you still had to live today. She decided she was done with it all. It was now or never. "I don't know yet Avery. If I say I can't feel anything, it's like I'm lying to myself but I know I feel something. It's not exactly love yet but I guess it could become it if you're willing to stick around." Ivy said as she looked away from his wistful gaze.

He smiled at her quickly and pulled her off the sandy ground. She shrieked with laughter and realized everything felt normal. It felt as if he was meant to be here with her. Carrying her and smiling with her. He twirled her around and her musical laughter filled his ears. He leaned in for a kiss and was rewarded with her participation in it. Warmth spread over her body and latched her arms around his neck for a closer touch. To him it felt so right. It was just a kiss but it was a milestone for them. It was the start of the end of their life. The closeness she wanted was found. She was happy. For once in her heart breaking life she was happy. Her heart was returned to her and both of their hearts were united. The one person to make her happy was Avery out of all of them. Everything was behind her and her only worry was, that moment would have ended.
