Keith Olbermann Challenges Sean Hannity to be Waterboarded
As the debate over waterboarding and torture continues to rage, Keith Olbermann is calling on Sean Hannity to undergo the torture technique for charity.
Sean Hannity may have unintentionally placed himself between a rock and a wet place. When jovially debating waterboarding and torture in general with Charles Grodin about, Hannity claimed that he would agree to be waterboarded for charity. Keith Olbermann, Hannity's primary rival in the waterboarding and torture debate, jumped at the opportunity to turn that statement into a made-for-TV event.
Olbermann has repeatedly and publicly challenged Hannity to undergo waterboarding and in return, Olbermann will donate $1000 for every 1 second that Hannity withstands the technique. The money will go to the families of military veterans who are currently serving in the War on Terror or those who have already finished their overseas service.
So far, no word from Hannity as to whether there is any possibility that he will accept the challenge. In addition to the thousand-per-second charitable donation angle, Olbermann piled on that he would double that rate if Hannity admitted that he feared for his life during the procedure and that waterboarding is, in fact, torture.
Olbermann has acknowledged that he was partially motivated by the idea of the huge television response that such an event would generate.
