Keeping Your Fiancé Involved In The Wedding Plans
Your wedding day will be one of the most memorable days in your life. By sharing your thoughts and dreams during the planning process, your wedding day will be very special for both of you.
One day you are young and free and then next thing you know, you have found "the one", the cherished gift of a soul mate. Now you are planning to take that next big step in your life and marry this person. Where to begin?
My suggestion would be to sit down and talk with your groom-to-be about his feelings about your wedding. One of my favorite quotes ~ "I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance, a church filled with family and friends. I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for, he said one that would make me his wife."
It has long been tradition that the bride plans all of the little details of the wedding with the groom usually showing up just in time to say "I do". However, this man has chosen you to be his bride and you have said yes. What a wonderful way to begin your life together by sharing your wedding dreams with each other. Both of you should be prepared to compromise, though. As the author reminds us in the quote above, sometimes it is the bride who wants the fairy tale wedding, while the groom would be just as happy with a wedding with just close family and friends.
By sharing your thoughts and dreams, your wedding day will be very special for both of you. Make your plans and stick with them. Even though he may not care which wedding party favors, you choose, or what color flowers you have in your bouquet, ask him anyway. By doing so, you give your groom the reassurance that he is getting married, too! However, if he just doesn’t want to make decisions, don’t be offended. He may be happy with letting you handle the details, but at least you will have given him the opportunity to have a say in the celebration.
There will be many suggestions from well-meaning relatives who just might totally disagree with every decision you make. They must remember that this is your wedding. Be thoughtful and gracious when you respond to their suggestions by simply saying, "I’ll keep that in mind."
Your wedding day will be one of the most memorable days in your life. Making notes, planning and organization will ensure that your wedding day will be perfect. Do your research to choose those perfect wedding favors. Ask your fiancé to choose the gifts he would like to present to his groomsmen. And above all, remember this is a journey to travel together.
