Kailash Manasarover Yatra-- Suspense & Anxieties at Nyalam in Tibet (China)

At Nyalam we went through emotional moments. There was suspense and anxiety. The weather also was very cold adding to the gloom. Trust Him.. Believe in Him..Pray to Him was the Mantra

When we reached Nyalam on 11th June 2006 it was around 6 pm in the evening and we were asked to reset our watches to Chinese time zone advancing the time by 2 and a half hours.

The travel from Kathmandu for more than 10 hours in cold weather was very tiring. Added to this, we had climbed more than 3000 meters from sea level and breathing was heavy and difficult. Even taking a single step became an effort.

And we had not taken proper food throughout the day...and therefore were hungry. Most of the Yatris had fallen sick. Some had fever..some had headache..Vomiting..stomach ache..cold ..nose block ..etc.

Madhu, our tour guide from Eko Trek gave us Diomox tablets (a drug that acts on the acid-base balance and stimulates respiration) when administered with care can reduce the risk of acute mountain sickness. A generous liquid intake became necessary, as is always the case at high altitude.

It was totally a different kind of experience and the next day's experience at Nyalam we went through emotional moments. There was suspense and anxiety. The weather also was very cold adding to the gloom. Trust Him.. Believe in Him..Pray to Him was the Mantra ...
