Justin Timberlake Opens Up about His Desire to Teach Karate

In an interview about their latest movie, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel open up about their burning desire to be karate teachers.
It’s probably a lark – the type of thing one says in the midst of a fun, rollicking interview. But if he’s to be believed, Justin Timberlake would really enjoy teaching karate. So there you have it – the multi-talented entertainer may end up taking on a Jackie Chan type of role in the future, if only he can hone his skills. In an interview that Timberlake did along with "Bad Teacher" co-star Jason Segel, Justin was asked what subject he would want to teach if given the opportunity. Without hesitating, Timberlake exclaimed "Karate!"

Said Timberlake of he and his co-star, "We both love karate. We don’t know it. Actually I know karate, and other Asian-influenced words." Said Segel, "I know more jujitsu." The two were having fun, of course, but it was just part of the rollicking interview they had together. Asked about the difficulties of being an educator, Timberlake talked about teachers he’s had in the past. He also discussed Cameron Diaz’s role in the new movie, in which Diaz plays a teacher who is anything but what you would expect from a prim and proper grade school educator. Rather, Diaz curses, smokes pot and, in general, seems not to care about her job.

Notes the entertainer, "I’ve had some teachers who were pretty rough, didn’t really want to be there. I think that’s the funniest thing about her character: She just doesn’t want to be there at all, so it sort of gives her carte blanche to not give en eff." Of his own education, Timberlake noted, "I was a pretty good student." Segel, still on the karate kick, said, "I was just taught to obey your sensei. I was part of Cobra Kai."
