Just Your Average Military Girl (Chapter 4) Part 2
"Dinner.".....Hey guys here is part 2! hope you like it and please comment!! Even if it is a small one!! Every one counts! Thanks....
Chapter 4. Part 2.
"Oh he is here. Everyone on his or her best behaviour!
"Yes sir!" Someone said. I smiled a little.
"Best behaviour or someone is going to suffer some serious consequences!" She snapped at us. Julie walked over to the door and opened it with a smile plastered on her face.
"BABE!" She squealed then jumped on him.
"Wow, babe, careful. Don’t want to ruin the hair." He said and pushed her off him. I raised my eyebrows and looked at Rodger. He just rolled his eyes and shrugged.
"Come on in." She grabbed his hand and he flinched a little. I felt like going up and slapping him right then and there. Well of course I could do a lot worse but he was Julie’s boyfriend. "This is my family." She said as they reached us.
"Oh wow. You didn’t say that your family was this big." He looked at her in an almost menacing way. Okay that’s it! I’m going full karate on his ass, boyfriend or not.
"Well you never asked. Anyway, this is…"
Julie introduced the whole family to Wayne and every one of them held out his or her hand and he took it like they were infected. It didn’t only irritate me but just about everyone else. The she introduced me.
"Wayne this is my sister Aurora." I felt a lump rising in my throat. I never thought of Julie as my sister, but I definitely liked the sound of it. He looked me up and down then held out his hand. I felt like I was going to throw up. I reluctantly grabbed his hand and shook it.
"Please, Aurora." He purred my name and I felt like punching him. I looked at Rodger who had the same expression. I didn’t even want to look at Marshall. I suppressed a shiver and pulled my hand back.
"Well why don’t we go and get settled at the dinner table." Genève said. She guided everyone towards the backdoor.
"We’re eating outside like a bunch of animals, great." Wayne murmured. Lo and Frankie were walking behind them and I saw Lo reach for the vase on the table. I walked past Rodger and grabbed the vase from her hand and put it back.
"Look I know your all for being righteous but if you don’t let me kill him, I will kill you." Lo whispered. I smiled a little.
"Not yet Lo, soon." I whispered back. She looked at me and laughed, so did Frankie. I smiled back and then fell back in line with Rodger.
"That soon better be in between now until we sit down or there is going to be hell." Rodger whispered. I laughed. The doorbell rang, just in time.
"I’ll get that!" I ran towards the door and opened it, thinking it was Wes. No Wes but there was a Kristy.
She was dressed in a white sundress that had flowers on the hem, her hair was pulled back and she only had a little make-up on. She looked like she had been pulled out of the 1960’s and put into our time, but I guess I can’t deny that she looked amazing.
"Hey. You must be Aurora. I’m Kristy." Her tone actually sounded genuine and sweet and she looked it as well. My guess is that she has never had to face something terrible in her lifetime.
"Yeah, it’s nice to meet you Kristy. Come in, we are just about to start dinner." I moved aside for her and she smiled at me.
"Kristy, babe. You made it." I heard Marshall say. The way he smiled at her made me cringe a little, like being punched in the stomach; unfortunately I had the pleasure of feeling what that was like.
He pulled her into a tight bear hug that he used to give me and she started to giggle. Marshall pulled back and kissed her a little to forcefully for my liking. I turned back to the door and closed it. Then a hand grabbed it from the outside and pushed it back towards me. I looked up to see it was Wes.
"Hey, sorry I’m la-." He stopped abruptly and I knew the reason to. Marshall and Kristy pulled away and looked up at us. I saw Kristy blush a bright red but her eyes, they looked so…sad. I looked at Marshall who didn’t look any different then he did before, regardless of the fact that he was just kissing Wes’s ex-girlfriend in front of him.
"Come on Kristy, let’s go down to the party." Marshall said. I guess he noticed the awkwardness. He grabbed her hand and led her down the hall towards the backdoor. I really didn’t want to look at Wes but I didn’t really have any other choice. His expression was unreadable and I really didn’t know what to say. Once again I don’t have any experience in these sorts of matters!
"You didn’t tell me she was going to be here, Aurora." Wes had his eyes closed and he was leaning back against the doorframe.
"I didn’t know until after I asked you, and well I didn’t have your number. I’m really sorry Wes." He took a deep breath, and then opened his eyes.
"Come on, let’s not keep them waiting." He gave me a small smile and grabbed my hand. He may not be dealing with this well but he deserves an A for effort. We walked down the stairs, to the commotion going on at the table. I can only guess what the girls were talking about. There were two seats left and with my luck they were across from Kristy and Marshall. Well this should be one interesting dinner.
"Now that everyone is here, lets start dinner shall we." Trent said.
I leaned in to Wes.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"I’m fine." He snapped. "I’m sorry." He looked at me, and his eyes melted a little. "I’m fine and you look beautiful."
"Thank you." He leaned in and kissed my cheek. I blushed a little but I didn’t mind, as long as he would keep doing that I would care if I stayed red. I looked over to Kristy and Marshall. Kristy had her head down, but I didn’t have to see her face to know she was sad. I felt guilty, not just a brush it off sort of guilt either but really guilty. I looked at Marshall who was just staring at me. I don’t know why but he was and for some reason I didn’t want him to stop.
"How have you been Wes?" Kristy said softly and she looked at him with sadness but I could also see longing in her eyes and that made me a little tense.
"Fine." He didn’t even look up or stop playing with his food. Have you ever felt like the third wheel? Say your best friend asks you to come with her to the movies only to find that she asked her crush as well and they are basically going at it in the seat next to you and you can’t do anything but sit there like a complete loser. Well that is exactly how I feel right now aside from the fact that they aren’t exactly going at it.
"How are things at home? Is Katie getting better?" She reached out her hand so it brushed his fingertips and I felt a little pain in my chest.
"I don’t see how it will concern you anymore." Wes snapped at her. She pulled her hand back and looked down.
"I can’t do this." Wes said. I turned to him. "I’m sorry Aurora. I thought that I could maybe do this for you but I can’t. I have to go. I’m sorry." He got up and walked past everyone and up the stairs. I pushed my chair back at the same time Kristy did. She stopped suddenly and looked at me, her eyes full of guilt. She sat down just as quickly as she got up and I ran to Wes.
He was almost out the front door.
"Wes, wait! Please." He stopped and turned to me.
"Aurora, I’m so sorry. But I don’t think I can do this right now. Your amazing but I’m not right at the moment." He leaned in and kissed my cheek, this time I didn’t like it. "You really do look beautiful. Goodbye." And with that he turned and left me standing in the doorway. Alone, once again. I used to think that being alone was what I wanted but after being here and meeting these people, I’m starting to think otherwise.
"Hello Aurora." I really didn’t want to hear that particular seedy voice at that moment but once again my luck doesn’t run out on me. I turned slowly, coming face to face with…the devil. I noticed the two girls behind him, far behind him.
"Wayne, what are you doing here?"
"I just needed to use the bathroom. Mind showing me where it is?" He winked at me. I shivered.
"Nope, I’m pretty sure the girls have it." I said as I walked past him. He grabbed my forearm and I swear I almost kicked his knee out.
"But I’m sure you will be a more accommodating host." Definitely vomit, but hey if he wants me to show him myself then that’s what I will do.
"Sure thing." He smirked and released my arm. I signalled the girls to come with me. "This way." I lead him up the stairs and down the hall. I really had no idea where I was going but I wanted to talk to him anyway. Then I felt it. His hand landed straight on my ass. Seems I have to teach him a few lessons.
I grabbed his hand and spun so that I was behind him. I pushed him against the wall, face first, and hard. I heard the girls start laughing. I pulled his hand up towards his neck.
"OWWWW! You crazy bitch!" He yelled. I raised it a little higher and he screamed again, he had a loud girly scream. Not really that surprising.
"I’ll tell you what, I will let you go and I won’t touch you ever again as long as you can agree to my conditions. But to be fair I will tell you them before you agree okay? First, you will stop being a complete jackass to every one and be polite especially to Julie and her parents who went out of their way to make sure that you were comfortable tonight. Second you will never, ever hit on me or any other girl for that matter while you are with Julie and Third Stop walking around like you own the place just because you got one line in a play. And if I ever hear of you or see you break any of these rules I will hurt you in places you didn’t know exist. I am an army brat meaning that my father taught me how to kill a person in five different ways…with my bare hands. So do you agree to these conditions or not?" The girls were now on the ground because they were laughing so much and honestly I was biting back a laugh.
"Yes, yes! I agree." He whimpered.
I didn’t realise it before but he was crying now. I smiled triumphantly, I guess the last five years weren’t a complete waste of time. I let go and he grabbed his arm and pulled to his chest. Idiot. I walked back towards the girls and grabbed their hands, then walked back towards the dinner party. I couldn’t shake the sadness I felt for Wes leaving but it wasn’t as big a deal, I of course only knew him for two days. I sat down at the table biting my lip, while the girls did nothing to hide their satisfaction. I felt Rodger lean into my ear.
"What happened up there." I smiled.
"I’ll tell you later." I said and looked at Kristy who was suddenly jumpy.
I couldn’t really look at her though, she was the reason Wes left. I saw Wayne walk down the stairs with an angry look on his face and he was grabbing his arm. For a spilt second I lost my control and laughed but I quickly covered my mouth with my hand and turned towards Rodger.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Fine." It came out muffled because my hand was still over my mouth. I looked over at Wayne and he was glaring at me now. I had to literally bite my knuckle to keep from laughing. Which kind of hurt.
"So anyone for dessert?" Genève asked as she stood up from the table.
"Um, mom as great as that sounds I think we will be going now. Wayne isn’t feeling the best." I bit down a little harder.
"Oh, okay sweetie. Well we will walk you out."
Wayne got up swiftly and almost ran up the stairs. Julie was behind him trying to keep up, so was Genève and Trent.
"I think I better go as well. I’ll talk to you later Marshall." Kristy said. She kissed his cheek and turned and left.
When I was sure they were out of hearing range, I burst out laughing. Lo and Frankie followed suit. I was laughing so hard that I fell off my chair. Never in my life had I ever laughed so much, well not that I can remember anyway. It feels great, no, it makes me feel, alive.
"Whats so funny!?" Rodger yelled. Lo and Frankie came around to my side and tried to help me up but we were laughing to hard that it was difficult but I got there eventually. "Aren’t you going to answer my question?" Roger exclaimed.
I looked at the girls who were smirking at him.
"I’ll tell you what if you catch us we’ll tell you." Lo said.
And with that we took off towards the backdoor. Lo and Frankie were in front of me. I heard the chairs scrape against the concrete and the sound of feet hitting the ground. We all started to sprint across the beach. Lo and Frankie were actually quiet fast as they were keeping up with me, although I wasn’t running as fast as I could. Suddenly I felt two arms wrap around me and then I was spinning around. I started to laugh even louder.
"I got one!" Marshall yelled.
"Put me down!" I yelled.
"Fine but I am not letting go."
"I got the second one!" Rodger yelled.
"Third one is in custody!" Evan yelled.
We were all still giggling as we all walked towards each other. We were right next to the water and the tide was coming in. The water was surprisingly warm as it covered out feet.
"So tell us what was so funny?" Evan said this time.
"Well you know how Wayne wanted to go to he bathroom…" Lo and Frankie told them the whole story, constantly finishing each others sentences, which I have to admit confused me a little bit. When Frankie told them about the part where Wayne grabbed my ass, I felt Marshall’s grip tighten a little. I felt a tingling sensation run through my body but I ignored it. Lo and Frankie could barely finish the story because they were laughing so much, as were the rest of us.
"Well remind me never to get you upset." Rodger said.
"The guy had it coming." I said.
"Amen, sister." Lo and Frankie said in unison.
"All I know is that he deserves a lot more than a threat and an arm lock." Evan said. I could see his protectiveness of his sister.
"I agree." Marshall said.
"Well he will get what is coming for him some day. Karma works in mysterious ways." Rodger said. I saw everyone roll their eyes.
"Shut up, Rodger." Marshall said.
"I believe it. I think if you do something bad, something bad will happen to you, well unless that persons deserves it anyway."
"I guess that means you’re off the hook then Aurora."
"I don’t think so." I said.
"Why is that?"
"Because of this."
I kicked the water at Rodger. He looked up slowly and a smirk crossed his face. He turned and grabbed Frankie and ran into the water and through her in.
"RODGER!" She screamed after she came up for air. She ran and leaped on Rodger causing him to fall forward into the water. I slowly started to take a few steps back, afraid Rodger would do the same and then I took one more step back only to come into contact with a warm, soft body.
"Did you think you would get away that easy?" Marshall whispered in my ear. I shivered a little…in delight.
"For a second there, yeah, I kind of did."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Haven’t you learned anything Aurora?" Then he scooped me up bridal style and ran towards the water. I clung onto his neck for dear life.
"If I’m going in you’re coming with me." I said.
"I don’t mind that at all."
Then he jumped into the waves and we went underneath. I smiled despite the fact that we were in the ocean. I was still clinging to Marshall as he lifted me up to the surface. My face was so close to his that I smiled just a little and so did he. At that moment I didn’t want to talk, laugh or even kiss him as I’m sure most girls would want to do. I felt like this was our moment and I didn’t want anything to break that.
